Musings
Just back from Cork - another humdinger - review will follow later. A couple of new (in any case to me) songs - Thrill Me and Enough. Cactus on 11:19 16th-Mar-03 GMT #27d-20110 4 hours 12 minutes to go... lovely bright, sunny day too. It's one thing to jump around surrounded by like minded people at night in a dark venue; quite another to do the same in the middle of a bright afternoon in a small park in the centre of a big city, under the hard glare of those who have not had the opportunity to develope a proper understanding of good music and think life ends at 30. Our hour is at hand (well 35 minutes anyway)! Phil D @ on 02:34 17th-Mar-03 GMT #daf-20111 What a show... am a tad horse, sorry hoarse now. a mere 25 minutes ( it never was??) of the band at there finest. Introduced to the stage by Jimmy `Jimmy' Nesbitt. I counted two new songs, which sounded like complete humdingers. For any Trainspotters out there... was Wednesday Week in a different key???. The set was something like ... You've Got My Number, Jimmy Jimmy, (new Song),Teenage Kicks, Wednesday Week,Here Comes The Summer, (New Song) Get Over You.... See you later Cliff!! donald on 18:57 16th-Mar-03 GMT #20f-20112 Cmon more news on Cork and London. Keep the long reviews for the website but give us a few crumbs of info you lucky people. Hope the weather was as good in london as it was here. Mind you, its always sunny when the Undertones are playing. Jackie on 19:03 16th-Mar-03 GMT #fcd-20113 A 25 second phonecall from George at 6.30 seemed to indicate things were going better than expected! Derek on 19:22 16th-Mar-03 GMT #aa0-20114 Well. What can I say. The band were rocking. Even the dog (really!) was wagging its tail (until I stood on it. Met up with George, Henry (& partner), Pete and a few others. Spoke to the band afterwards who told us there was a private (secret) gig in Covent Garden. Got tickets so offthere now. 2 for the price of one. Glad I came by car now. I can leave when I like. Gig was short. But played 2 new songs. Thrill me and enough (not the right title). This was a real rocking song. Loved it. George got stabbed! Don't worry it was only from the studs on the leather jacket from a punk rocker who was pogoing too close. Off to next gig now. Derek on 19:28 16th-Mar-03 GMT #aa0-20115 Forgot to say. Gig was truly good. 9 songs. Started with ygmnwdyui.Jimmy Jimmy, Here comes the summer (WEATHER WAS REALLY GOOD), Thrill me, Wednesday Week, Enough, Teenage kicks. Enough said. see you. Lost Cliff though.Where are you? I am mising something AlexD on 21:11 16th-Mar-03 GMT #6a1-20119 CIS my fuckin ronson :) Jon on 21:42 16th-Mar-03 GMT #426-20120 Superb day at the St Patricks Day festival. Derek has said most of the key bits. The Undertones were introduced by Jimmy Jimmy himself - aka James Nesbitt. A great 30 minutes. Thrill Me sounds as good as the very first LP to me - a hit single I think. Good to see a huge crowd witness the band. Jen (my wife) was official photographer for the day - 80 great snaps. Aren't digital cameras brilliant. I'll email a few to the official site. George - I have a special one for you of your spiky haired friend ! Vinny @ on 23:25 16th-Mar-03 GMT #1a3-20122 Hard lines today AlexD. JON: Was anyone filming the gig today? Please email me. Cactus on 23:48 16th-Mar-03 GMT #fc0-20123 2 gigs in 1 day. 'Secret' gig was great stuff; no stage, the band were just on the ground in the corner of the bar. Lost for words really. (I seem to have lost much of my hearing too for some reason.) Even the toilets were up to the job! Top day. Cactus on 23:49 16th-Mar-03 GMT #fc0-20124 Cheers Micky, good man! Presents money can't buy. Cliff on 00:24 17th-Mar-03 GMT #7e3-20125 Just got home, what a superb day.The 'secret' gig(I didnt hear about it until last night)was the absolute bollocks.About 150 people and The Undertones stuck in the corner on the same level as us.Two new songs 'Thrill me' and 'She wants everything but you'.At the festival I thought 'thrill me' was the stronger of the two although the chorus of 'she wants everything' was very catchy. That chorus sounded great at the later gig and is still in my head now...it's beautiful!!I fell on my ass and have just noticed the back of my shirt covered in crap.A really great day(football apart that is). Arthur on 03:05 17th-Mar-03 GMT #8d9-20126 Hi Jon - can't you e-mail the photos to this site as well?
