great gig, last night, the band really enjoyed playing, you could notice and the audience enjoyed it too! small club, only 150 people or so but great atmosphere

will have more comments later on, but it was a small club, low ceiling low stage, so we really stood in front of the band! they played a great set with the new songs as well. these were received quite well by the audience!

highlight for me: she wants everything but you' what a great song, played full of energy, recieved very well by audience!

3 surprises: a 'lengthy' version of jump boys, nice surprise by Mickey. An intro taken from the Sweet 'are you ready...', also from Mickey's hat and a new song as well called 'enough'

Barry was selling singles and t-shirts afterwards and I'ld like to thank Paul for driving and esp for the drumstick, will be back with a full review later on!!!

Cliff the Moondogs album 'Red Fish' can be ordered from Reekus Records (tel: 00 3531 667 8540 ask for 'Elvera' but persist as you often get voice mail). It will take about a week to get to you from Ireland but is worth the wait because it is GREAT. Ask for a promo of the single 'Getting Off in Amsterdam' as well for an extra track 'Every Day Things'. I don't know if I dare say this on this site but I think the Moondogs single is better than 'Thrill Me'. I think the Undertones should have released 'She Wants Everything but You' as the single.

Rick, think about it..then there would only have been 1,000 copies of a fantastic song like 'Everything but You'? IMO,I reckon it was a 'toe in the pool' with 'Thrill Me'which I believe is pure class. The Moondogs single is excellent.

Will wait for Julius to do a full report. Crowd was not too large. More room to dance. Tonights venue apparently has a smaller capacity. German keyboards are weird. Terrific gig last night - more details to follow.... what was impressive was that many of the audience were expecting to see fergal, so initial response was luke warm, but within the space of 3 songs, Paul had won them over. Also approx 50 copies of the single were sold, making it the biggest selling record in Cologne (between 10 & 11 PM on Tuesday Night) . Frankfurt he we come !

The venues are small (which makes it excellent) but the tour bus is one of those luxury double decker rockstar vehicles with beds, jacuzzi, and fully stocked bar. Very impressive!

Rumour is the Guilford festival gig wasn't confirmed because there was only a mid-afternoon slot left available (around 3 p.m.). As we all agree the Undertones need to be high on a bill and certainly not before Aqualung !!!

Talk last night of Dutch gigs in September - short tour of 3/4 venues in the offing.

Wilke - t-shirts are from previous gigs. Now in Frankfurt. Saw soundcheck. There might be an O'Neill strike if the football overlaps the gig. John did soundcheck in Celtic away top. Believe they plan to find pub to watch match in. Tour bus is set up for games and dvds etc.

Spent the Morning in Cologne, I can highly recommend the chocolate Museum ! Then drove to frankfurt, with george as my Navigator, arriving in time for the soundcheck. Chatted briefly to Paul who said that they played one of the songs off the new album over the PA after the gig last night...as it doesn´t fit into the set easily. I have to confess to being totally oblivious to it at the time...there again it was a very quiet sound system after the gig. ( George tells me it is called Winter Sun) apparently it is Beach Boysesque.

you've said it now Rick so next time we all meet we'll make a circle and kick the crap out of you ;-) 'She wants everything' is fantastic and very difficult to choose between that and 'thrill me'.

Unlucky Alex. I thought they'd done enough until the sending off. Don't you just hate all the rolling around they do overseas?
