Happy Birthday Cliff. I was a very old looking 38 last saturday but still 16 when the Undretones are on stage. My home pC is almost dead but I am going to (try) and upgrade it today - not on Friday 13th. If only I had Cmos's brain I wouldnt be so woried. 'I may be gone some time'.

In 7th heaven today as i went to our local big library to see the Dick Bruna Miffy exhibition (Julius will know who I'm on about) It was so special, Harry and I were proper Miffy fans complete with badges and tshirts, lapping up the original Dick Bruna artwork, so classy, timeless etc etc...infact come to think of it there were more adults there than kids! Long live Miffy!

Just got back from a free open air Bad Manners concert. Good fun. Last minute decision so didn't have a chance to listen to any of their LPs first. One of the support bands was a Stiff Little Fingers cover band. Bought my first Velvet Underground record today. Has 'there she goes again' (as featured on Undertones Unearthed). Not a patch on the Undertones and the Dolly Mixtures version of Femme Fatale is better as well. Another track 'I'm waiting for the man' I think I have on an OMD LP. And did Japan cover 'All tomorrow's Parties'.

I see in the Miffy books Poppa is a kind of Pig Lady modelled on one of his school teachers! If your schoolkids were to model a character on you Jackie who would it be! A lobster! I think it would be a great topic and Liam can publish the results on the Humdinger of the Month page.

They did indeed, so did Siouxsie & the Banshees. My arms are killing me, bad client day. Early tomorrow so not even a Smirnoff for comfort :(

Waiting for the man was also covered by Eater, the velvets were a band who were covered a lot and in most cases I like the cover better as the original, which is remarkable in itself. In the early days of punk the Velvets got lots of name checks for inspiration but Paul Weller once admitted that in early interviews he mentioned them coz it was hip(everyone did) but never heard any record by them at that stage!

My eldest gave her birhday party today, 14 kids, well Jackie my respect for you (which was very high already) has grown enormous today........

Jackie, I still read Nijntje (as we say to Miffy)evey night for my son, he loves it. If you promise to pop up at an undertones concert I'll promise you to read you a Miffy story in its original language!!! it sounds at its best in Dutch

Next week REM start their tour in my home town of Utecht in a small club of 1000, wish I could have acquired some tickets but prices are sky-high right now
