What do you say to God I think was someone's posting when meeting Feargal - 'Any chance of a chip?' was all I could come up with when standing on a cold Malvern's street when out of nowhere breezed Feargal chomping on a bag of chips. My hero walks past and I mutter 'Any chance of a chip' - useless! Got a chip though!

Aah - it's good to be back! Eleven were doing a UK tour I think. A poster appeared on our poly wall - 'Out of the Ashes of the Undertones come Eleven' (Just an aside but the first posters appearing about TPE said exactly the same). The gig was the same day. Very excited I rush off to get a ticket only to be told the gig was cancelled as Michael Bradley had broken his wrist in a motorbike crash or something. I quickly nick the hand written poster and still have it to this day. Next thing you know Eleven split up (Talking to JON many years later he said he thought this was because they weren't very good! - there's brotherly support for you). The breaking of the wrist never made the music press - I always wondered if they just made that up and had simply decided to call it a day on that day. Anyone know if there is any truth in this or not?

Lee was that for a gig in Birmingham? I travelled down to it from Manchester. Eleven did a Peel session which was, erm... crap! I think a few people echoed that sentiment on here some time back...

Arthur, I think you have a good point about security on here.We're now 2 years down the line and the Undertones revival has gained a lot of momentum.Many of us tell other fans about the site at gigs, but I wonder how many give up coz their message dosent appear for a while and then it gets lost on previous pages.Maybe Anna has gone forever and we should do away with passwords etc? What d'ya think CMoS?

Wilke - that episode set in a lighthouse is called 'The Horror Of Fang Rock' and its great. Lee - CmOS is building a lifesize Dalek. Donald - I spent 4 hours with a friend of mine who had been corresponding with Morrissey in his London flat in September 1984. Pretentious and difficult are the words best used to describe Mozza but I think the worst thing was his slagging me off for liking Orange Juice and saying his book on James Dean wasn't very good. Later he ripped off our encounter to provide lyrics for the songs 'I Know It's Over' and 'Stretch Out & Wait'.

I was at the last Lyceum gig and Selhurst Park. I left Selhurst soon after the Undertones finished and a long while before PG. I remember spending the night at Liverpool St station after missing the last train on the Lyceum night. A great concert though. Selhurst was just something I needed to be at - the end of an era. Good but not like classic undertones and of course a sad day.

Loads of good Undertones stories here at the moment. Perhaps someone should get them all together in a book? SLF have a book about its songs coming out soon, written mostly by fans. I'm sure we could come up with something better about the Undertones. I bet that would guarantee at least 20 or so sales!

It's good that more people start post messages; the guilt of keeping the Undertones a secret overwelms(?) me sometimes.....

Tom Baker has got the sexiest voice ever! Who said meeting your heroes is disappointing? They were right. They are always shorter/spottier/more boring etc etc than you think. And you can never think of things to say to them. I'm not talking about the fab 5 of course! Except the last bit.

Wayne: We're way ahead on that one. He insisted on taping the two hour meeting we had yesterday. What was REM's sound like? Saw Ash at the Academy a year or two back and it was deadful; just a muddy boom.
