Wilke, tried your e-mail address but the message 'failed'apparently.Whats the crack?

George on 09:19 22nd-Jul-03 GMT #100-22798
Played Hypnotised CD in car last night. My car stereo certainly took exception to There Goes Norman and jumped and slid all over the place. The next track was only slightly better before normal service was resumed. An octopus would have struggled to keep up with the drums, must have been about 300bpm. Billy would have been knackered if the proper drums were that fast. Hopefully the problem is just a dirty CD and nothing more serious.

Waterford posponed, guess who,s going to be the grumpy one on holiday then?Just ma luck.

Vinny on 16:57 22nd-Jul-03 GMT #afa-22802
Lewis, there's an excellent festival on that weekend in Waterford. Won't make up for the gig but at least it's something.

Cactus on 19:54 22nd-Jul-03 GMT #48f-22803
George: Your CD player clearly just wants to pogo. 300bpm? A new Undertones techno mix?

Cactus on 20:05 22nd-Jul-03 GMT #48f-22804
What is everyone's least favourite Undertones song? I was just thinking about this and decided for me it is probably the Way Girls Talk; Feargal whining on about not having kissed a girl before and the band lumpenly trying to conjure up a tune to fit Feargal’s moaning. Don't get me wrong, it's actually still pretty good compared with most of what other bands churn out, but for me it's probably the weakest Undertones song. It just seems to lack the fun, power and drive of other songs, quite frankly I also don’t believe Feargal either! The sort of song the Smiths might have written.

Cactus on 20:09 22nd-Jul-03 GMT #48f-22805
'Whats the use of singing this song? Some of you aren't even listening' The last lines the band ever sung live before splitting up in 1983. Cher O Bowlies (Blues Magoos)

Cactus on 20:10 22nd-Jul-03 GMT #48f-22806
What negative postings! Sorry!

Jackie on 20:57 22nd-Jul-03 GMT #675-22807
There are no bad Undertones songs. Just ones you dont like as much as others ;-)

Jackie on 20:57 22nd-Jul-03 GMT #675-22808
But on Hypnotised I always fast forward through Hard Luck.

donald on 21:03 22nd-Jul-03 GMT #5db-22809
The great thing about the Undertones is the variety of songs and we each have our favourites and least favourites, theres no such thing as a bad Undertones song. However, Cactus, have you no heart, 'the Way Girls Talk' is IMO one of the best songs JON has ever written. Its melody is beautiful and sends a shiver up my spine. Feargals singing is flawless and those lyrics just sum up all the teenage insecurities we all had. When I hear that song I believe every word. You're Welcome is another that tugs those heartstrings. Take the 'Mars Bars' out of your ears and listen again :) Mind you, I like the Smiths so maybe we'll just have to agree to disagree (but you are wrong!). Sadly, no Undertones on TOTP 2 tonight.Whre is everybody?

Cactus on 21:26 22nd-Jul-03 GMT #48f-22810
Of course there are no bad Undertones songs! What a terrible thing to even think. It's all just relative. Picking out the weaker ones is almost as hard as picking out the best ones, especially when the weak ones are better than most other bands best ones. (?) I just don't believe Feargal but I do belive a Mars Bar will help you work rest and play and I really do wanna be a Male Model and every song does Thrill Me and... Isn't Hard Luck the only Undertones song which carries Feargal's name on the writing credits? The Smiths were a great band; certainly in my all time Top Twenty.

Colin on 21:27 22nd-Jul-03 GMT #4cf-22811
I haven't been on here for a while but feel I must agree that The Way Girls Talk is one of the most beautiful songs that the The Undertones wrote and one of my favourites (although I have so many).

Cliff on 21:43 22nd-Jul-03 GMT #5d7-22812
Way Girls Talk is a cracker, but I have to disagree and say my beloved Undertones made some absolute stinkers at the end.'Window shopping' and 'Like That' are both awful.Oh god, I'm sorry ;-).

Cactus on 21:50 22nd-Jul-03 GMT #48f-22813
I rather like Window Shopping... Perhaps it's out of a sense of decency as it was the very last one. No one goes to a funeral and says they hated the person who's just died, even if they did. Except maybe Cliff apparently? Like That is a bit, em, well, it's ok really. :-) Honesty is a virtue Cliff, honest it is!

George on 21:50 22nd-Jul-03 GMT #918-22814
I can only dream has the least votes in 60 minutes, yet the guitar bit at the end is superb. I even suggested to John that he uses it for another song. I agree with Jackie that there are some songs that maybe wouldn't make my top ten, but are still better than most of the songs that make the charts these day.

Cactus on 22:01 22nd-Jul-03 GMT #48f-22815
My favourite cousin died about a month ago. I was away so I didn't even go to the funeral as I didn't know anything about it. Hadn't seen her for years but it was very sad. Only 35 too. Like John Peel, I think I'd like an Undertones song or two played at mine; have to give that some thought. The idea of Mars Bars at a funeral does have a certain black humour to it. It's Gone and Happened. Hard Luck. One Way. Billy's Last. Family Entertainment. There Goes Cactus. Sigh and Decompose. (To Late to) Save Me. Turning Blue. You've Got My Number's Up. Forever Paradise (Hopefully). Teenage Kicks the Bucket. I'm in an odd mood tonight I think.

Arthur on 22:06 22nd-Jul-03 GMT #be5-22816
The Way Girls Talk is an absolute belter as is You're Welcome. Some of the latter stuff, (Like That, etc) doesn't have a lot of heart but really the quality of the materiel is unrivalled which is the main reason we're all here 20 years on.

Arthur on 22:09 22nd-Jul-03 GMT #be5-22817
Cactus - death and BAAAD Undertones' songs! Sounds like an existential nightmare or a scene from a bad Woody Allen film

Cactus on 22:22 22nd-Jul-03 GMT #48f-22818
Well I did watch two trailers for Terminator 3 tonight. Oh, and I just 'forced' myself listen to three versions of the Way Gils Talk and it's ok really!

Cactus on 22:23 22nd-Jul-03 GMT #48f-22819
That's Girls not Gils!

AlexD on 22:39 22nd-Jul-03 GMT #fdf-22820
I can't listen to the 'remix' of True Confessions as the original is probably my favourite track the other version makes me want to put my finger through my eye socket and wiggle it about a bit. Too far again, sorry

donald @ on 22:41 22nd-Jul-03 GMT #5db-22821
Top man Cactus, you got us all going - even Colin- welcome back. 'Turning blue' at a funeral would be a bit much though.Terminator 3 looks class. My emials just back on and there was one from the .com team saying look out for more dates in Uk and Irealnd in Sept/October. anyone offer anymore info/unsubstantiated rumours would do.

wilke on 22:42 22nd-Jul-03 GMT #69c-22822
hi. jump boys wrong way ygmn are the three songs that make me want to got nuts at gigs there are more but would take all night to post them any at the gym tonight some prat put on 70`s disco music as back ground music it was f&^*%^ crap .it like when you go to a 70`s disco it stops at 1977all you get is mud bay city boys??? f&^*me yes i`m in a bad mood must go before i blow my top talk soon see

Cactus on 23:24 22nd-Jul-03 GMT #48f-22823
Is it just me or has anyone else noticed that on the original first album (b/w cover) the version of Male Model has a slight 'getting ready to play' sound at the start, but on every other LP or CD (I think) this bit is missing? Now is that not nerdy or what?! Quite proud of that I am.

Cliff on 23:25 22nd-Jul-03 GMT #934-22824
I forgot about 'turning blue', thats pretty dire also.I'm going to hell for this.

Cliff on 23:26 22nd-Jul-03 GMT #934-22825
While I'm on a roll, I might aswell make another confession...Here goes...

Cliff on 23:30 22nd-Jul-03 GMT #934-22826
Probably my favourite 2 new wave/Punk songs are NOT by The Undertones. If you want to play a couple of records full volume, so loud they make the house vibrate, could you do any better than 'Babylons burning' The Ruts and 'This Perfect Day' The Saints.I'm going to cry myself to sleep now I've said that.

donald on 00:05 23rd-Jul-03 GMT #5db-22827
Cliff, after all youve said tonight, I doubt youll get any sleep.

Vinny on 01:33 23rd-Jul-03 GMT #69c-22828
Cliff...you're fecked now, I was just waiting. BABYLONS BURNING is a great track but hey? MALE MODEL at full volume, YOU'VE GOT MY NUMBER? EVER FALLEN IN LOVE WITH?(Buzzcocks) I doubt this is one of your 20 hour days so all is forgiven! I would even listed a CLASH track before The Ruts if it was me and I have just had a very longggggggg day!!
