How eerie! I have had SOP in my car for 2 weeks now, for the first time in ages, and I keep listening to I Can Only Dream, just cos the guitar bit at the end goes on for so long and sounds so damn good. Everyone lsiten to it, Its good!

Did anyone record TOTP 2 ? I set up SKY reminder but got distracted by BBQ duties and missed it :(. If anyone recorded it and is able to make copy it I would be grateful for an email (will pay for tape, p&p etc). Off to Amsterdam in the morning for a couple of days and will make enquiries re the phantom spammer of a few weeks ago (gut feeling says try the coffee houses first ;) )

Glad I am not alone in my appreciation of the Ruts- listed their Best of CD a few weeks ago in the '6 CD's for my car' discussion. Remember feeling the same sense of loss when I heard about his death as when Peely announced Ian Curtis's death 'I've just heard...' at the start of his 10pm nightly show. Weren't those great times? -he was the main source of info and the only place you could hear the best and latest music on FM stereo. Any thoughts when he will be knighted for services to contemporary culture ?

The proper album Get What You Need. The new Best Of album, as described on the official site. The Sessions album, as described below somewhere and in lots of places. Wait 20 years and three come along at once.... Are they really all being released so close together? Plus hopefully the Teenage Kicks DVD. I'll have to go and clean up all the drool now, yuk.

Has TOTP2 ever started as well. Then to follow the Undertones with Typically Tropical. Even John Peel would struggle to come up with such contrasting songs. New CDs and DVDs now only weeks away. Roll on Summertime.

Wayne, lets get this clear, I'm not a fan of The Ruts or The Saints.This is of course is the crucial difference, they made 1 or 2 good records, the Undertones made atleast 50.Hope that gets me off the hook ;-)

Yes: 3 albums; 1) 'The Best of' CD(with a DVD) on Sept 1st 2) 'Get What You Need' on Oct 6th and 3) 'Peel Sessions' album date to be confirmed. As well as the Teenage Kicks DVD in October 2003. All of this and a TV advertising campaign for the Best Of album.

It's very sad; I've had that hat for years. I've no idea where I left it. I'll have to get a new one now; bet it takes ages to get it so it's comfortable. 100,000 people with really good taste; the human race does perhaps have a future. Who are the other 99,970? I missed Typically Tropical on TOTP2 too, so had to make do with a can of Lilt.

I really like 'Life's Too Easy' especially the version on the B-Side Beautiful Friend. The trumpets on it make it nearly take off. His Goodlooking Girlfriend is funny and true and I think Conscious is sweet.

I see that Bittersweet is included on the new compilation. Would that have happened but for the eulogies written by a Southend Cafe owner? All they need to do is rerelease Thrill Me and get back on Top of the Pops.
