Lindsay,I didn't suggest that you should be sad.I just asked why you mentioned it.If (God forbid)one of The Undertones died and one of your work mates made a point of telling you that they simply didn't care you would probably wonder why they told you.Winding poeple up over the death of one of their heroes is a bit poor to say the least. Adrian on 18:41 16th-Sep-03 GMT #1a8-23976 Steve, they certainly were barking, but great live as well.I saw them a few times including the last time they played. They pretty much fell apart in front of our eyes. Now 'HOW DO I GET OFF THE BUS'! Arthur on 10:41 16th-Sep-03 GMT #92b-23977 The new compilation seems to have disappeared without trace from the Tesco's chart. Lee on 12:51 16th-Sep-03 GMT #64a-23978 I remember being quite interested in seeing Stump support TPE in Leicester - but they didn't turn up. I heard 3 rumours - they had a bad day and spent all day fighting amongst themselves, they thought they had made it and were above supporting anyone or they simply got pissed and were unable to play. Not sure which, if any, is true. Lee on 12:57 16th-Sep-03 GMT #64a-23979 Received some disappointing news from Gerry McCandless last night. While it is still not certainly postponed The Cavern gig in October is looking unlikely for the Moondogs. The date has verbally been agreed but as yet the Cavern have not been able to confirm it in writing. Gerry now thinks it is unlikely to go ahead. Will let you know if I hear otherwise. donald on 13:37 16th-Sep-03 GMT #f84-23980 Have to respond to the J Cash comments (being easy to wind up). Those early Sun recordings with labelmates Elvis, Carl Perkins, Roy Orbison were basically the birth of rock n Roll.JC was right in the middle of it. He trod his own path throughout his career , his records werent included in the 'Country Charts' because he wasnt country enough and the werent included in the mainstream charts because he was considered a Country artist. He was just JC. The later 'American recordings' cover albums are great with covers of Nick Cave, Soundgarden, U2 all being given the Cash treatment, probably chosen for their lyrics more than anything else. How many other artists can claim to be making brilliant records up until the age of 71. Cant even thing of any artists that came close. If the Maninblack dying doesnt mean anything to you, youre heart is black. (even his initials tell you he's important!) Lindsay on 13:49 16th-Sep-03 GMT #2b0-23981 zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz Lindsay on 13:50 16th-Sep-03 GMT #2b0-23982 Why have I just drawn a railway line! wilke on 14:59 16th-Sep-03 GMT #8a3-23983 paul is the dj on petsounds tonight 7 till 10 ok talk soon seeya donald on 17:28 16th-Sep-03 GMT #fb2-23989 Lindsay, you have drawn a Railway line, because Johnny Cash loved to sing about railroads and he has clearly had more influence on you than you realise. 'I hear the train a coming, its rolling round the bend.....'. Wayne on 19:11 16th-Sep-03 GMT #09a-23990 Transmission JD- what a guy ! :) stote007 on 19:24 16th-Sep-03 GMT #585-23991 Just listening to Paul on Today FM. I think he'd be better off playing Johnny Cash....... Lindsay on 20:28 16th-Sep-03 GMT #f95-23992 Sounds like Paul has excellent music taste to me! Oh groan, next there’ll be all the tribute albums… enough to send me round the bend if I’ve not mastered that one already (shame I can only draw wonky railway lines, not bendy ones). PS. Adrian – I’ve always said on here that I am no JC fan and as such it would be hypocritical of me to mourn his death and anyway I’m entitled to exercise my right to free speech, just as you are. Though I can’t quite imagine you handing out the sympathy bucket to a desolate Westlife fan if one of them died. donald on 20:41 16th-Sep-03 GMT #f84-23993 Really enjoyed paul tunes, great start with Joy Div then Bowie. this one thats playing sounds quite good 'she wants everything but you' who's it by (it is a truly brillinat record)gets better every time I hear it, donald on 20:42 16th-Sep-03 GMT #f84-23994 that guitar solo is something else. what a great record Its got Single written all over it donald on 20:58 16th-Sep-03 GMT #f84-23995 Pauls a big Pixies fan. He's got good taste. Those 1st 2 Breeders albums are truly brillinat as well. thank god theres good radio on cos theres nothing but football on TV. Jackie on 21:11 16th-Sep-03 GMT #931-23996 REM 'Bad Day' This must be a new single. I use the term loosley as I have it on a bootleg dating from about 1984. Running out of ideas anyone???? donald on 21:51 16th-Sep-03 GMT #f84-23997 'Oh Please'is also a cracking song, and great live. It must be awkward for Paul playing his own records, but a great plug for the album.really looking forward to getting it. Wayne on 21:59 16th-Sep-03 GMT #09a-23998 He's a great presenter- confident, genuine and unassuming. Vinny on 23:44 16th-Sep-03 GMT [www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/chart/top40/indie.shtml] #49c-23999 It's No 12 in this chart Arthur....is it cold in Belfast?
