The new compilation seems to have disappeared without trace from the Tesco's chart.

I remember being quite interested in seeing Stump support TPE in Leicester - but they didn't turn up. I heard 3 rumours - they had a bad day and spent all day fighting amongst themselves, they thought they had made it and were above supporting anyone or they simply got pissed and were unable to play. Not sure which, if any, is true.

Received some disappointing news from Gerry McCandless last night. While it is still not certainly postponed The Cavern gig in October is looking unlikely for the Moondogs. The date has verbally been agreed but as yet the Cavern have not been able to confirm it in writing. Gerry now thinks it is unlikely to go ahead. Will let you know if I hear otherwise.

Have to respond to the J Cash comments (being easy to wind up). Those early Sun recordings with labelmates Elvis, Carl Perkins, Roy Orbison were basically the birth of rock n Roll.JC was right in the middle of it. He trod his own path throughout his career , his records werent included in the 'Country Charts' because he wasnt country enough and the werent included in the mainstream charts because he was considered a Country artist. He was just JC. The later 'American recordings' cover albums are great with covers of Nick Cave, Soundgarden, U2 all being given the Cash treatment, probably chosen for their lyrics more than anything else. How many other artists can claim to be making brilliant records up until the age of 71. Cant even thing of any artists that came close.If the Maninblack dying doesnt mean anything to you, youre heart is black. (even his initials tell you he's important!)

Oh groan, next there’ll be all the tribute albums… enough to send me round the bend if I’ve not mastered that one already (shame I can only draw wonky railway lines, not bendy ones). PS. Adrian – I’ve always said on here that I am no JC fan and as such it would be hypocritical of me to mourn his death and anyway I’m entitled to exercise my right to free speech, just as you are. Though I can’t quite imagine you handing out the sympathy bucket to a desolate Westlife fan if one of them died.

Really enjoyed paul tunes, great start with Joy Div then Bowie. this one thats playing sounds quite good 'she wants everything but you' who's it by (it is a truly brillinat record)gets better every time I hear it,
