im trying to figure out this site and would love some help... a very dear friend of mine digs the whole older underground punk scene and i cant wait to tell him of this site!! wilke on 08:02 7th-Oct-03 GMT #8a3-24378 hello . joe the t shirt & badges & cd`s came today thanks alot.the get what you want cd is on it`s way .it`s f*&(^% great .talk soon see ya Dave R on 08:58 7th-Oct-03 GMT #43d-24379 To follow on from Cliff's (my?!) point about the new album not being an Undertones one... I like Kevin Rowland's recent analogy about Dexy Midnight Runners' forthcoming activities - he has stated that it isn't a reunion, but a 're-invention'. I like to think of The Undertones as that - so I don't view the album as their 5th album. What does everyone else think? SeanW on 12:42 7th-Oct-03 GMT #ad2-24380 Fantastic gig at the Garage last night. The band were incredible. Big crowd. As mentioned, way too hot!, The material was a direct mix between the first one and a half albums, and the latest. Physically, the crowd got more involved with the old stuff, as expected. Boy am I unfit. Personal Highlights - “Thrill Me” “Need your love” “YGMN” “Male Model” “There goes norman” and “Oh Please” (lyrics: God protect me from Dublin bands!!) can’t remember if they played “She wants everything but you” and if they did, then I loved that too! With the new album, okay, so its not 100% replica old Undertones (Dave R, Cliff??) for obvious reasons but still, you can’t mistake a Billy beat, a Bradley quip or an O’Neil riff. Apologies for not saying goodbye to some of you, my train wasn’t running, so had to exit before Mars Bars to then went on to get about 92 tube and rail connections home. BTW is that woman in the Left Hand inner sleeve of the new album a 'Bradley'?, I can sort of see a similarity, same grin. Rick on 09:13 7th-Oct-03 GMT #2a9-24381 Wow - how hot was it in the garage last night ? Completely sold out and rammed to the rafters. I was with 3 mates (two of whom had to buy tickets off touts) and only got to see Temi in there so sorry for not seeing the other Humdingers but it was impossible. The gig was great. Great atmosphere, very effective lighting, and non-stop massive mosh pit from the start. The sound was perfect - Pauls vocals coming across very clear. New songs went down very well with the crowd and lots of plugging of the new album with promotional flyers handed out in the gig too. Guess they got the messsage. This was much better than Leeds I have to say (and that gig was good too). After 2 Undertones gigs and Killing Joke on Sunday I'm absolutely shattered. Rick on 09:20 7th-Oct-03 GMT #2a9-24382 For all us anoraks out there - the only difference in the set list from Leeds was no 'When Saturday Comes' which was replaced with 'True Confessions' (sorry Jackie and Lindsay). Liam @ on 09:33 7th-Oct-03 GMT [www.theundertones.com] #659-24383 I have to totally disagree with your point about his not being the fifth Undertones album. Who's album is it then? Some mystery band who have taken over the bands bodies! Wise up. At the end of the day they are The Undertones. Simply because they have not been together as such for a long period of time doesn't change that fact. In my opinion it is a much better album that the last two. Obviously the sound is going to be different (as indeed the sounds between the various previous albums was extremely different). Simply because this may not fit into some peoples idea of what they should be doesn't detract from the fact that The Undertones have produced a classic album which hopefully will not be their last. At the end of the day what right does anyone have to say that 'their' album is not an Undertones album? Liam @ on 09:34 7th-Oct-03 GMT [www.theundertones.com] #659-24384 'Dexys Midnight Runners' - fucking hell catch yourself on. Rick on 09:53 7th-Oct-03 GMT #2a9-24385 No 'Its Going to Happen' last night either. No great loss in my book. Vinny on 09:55 7th-Oct-03 GMT #dea-24386 Dave, I see some of what you are getting at and it's a good topic, but have to disagree. Whilst I dislike the inevitable comparisons of Paul to Feargal in the new CD reviews and so on, there can be no separation of the fact that this is their 5th album. It is not a 'new' band or a 'reinvention', they have a new singer, which brings an obvious 'freshness'(for want of a better word)but they are still The Undertones and this is defintely their 5th album. Nearly every band's album is different in some ways including The Undertones: 1st album to Sin of Pride? I think this all sparks off from, as mentioned, the Paul/ Feargal comparisons. Some would like to say this is a new band in order to reduce the comparisons but unfortunately this is always gonna happen. As those this week have witnessed, there is a whole new audience there now for The Undertones that allow us veterans to stand back and enjoy or at least take more breaks!! Cliff on 10:14 7th-Oct-03 GMT #7e3-24387 just the absolute bollocks last night, everything an Undertones gig should be.Agree with you about 'its gonna happen' Rick(I find myself agreeing with you a worrying ammount these days ;-))its no great loss to the set.Anyway, I'm listening to the new album now...... Cliff on 10:16 7th-Oct-03 GMT #7e3-24388 Dave, I'm sure you'll find you said it on here a while ago. Dave R on 10:33 7th-Oct-03 GMT #395-24389 Liam, it's just a personal opinion - calm down! I'm not saying I'm right or wrong - a message board is for people to exchange ideas, that's all. Don't be so precious about things - it's a great album, and that's all that really matters. As for Dexy's - I don't need to catch myself on. 'Searching For The Young Soul Rebels' is one of the greatest albums ever made. The Undertones also once confessed that they influenced them Positive Touch era. Cliff on 11:05 7th-Oct-03 GMT #a6c-24390 Great CD for 'thrill me' and those screen savers are coooooool.I'm getting the hang on this tecknolology business. liam @ on 11:07 7th-Oct-03 GMT #eea-24391 Dave. I was not being 'precious' as you say, nor do I need to 'calm down'. You made a statement and asked 'What does everyone else think?' I simply gave my opinion and whether you like it or not this IS the 5th Undertones album. Some people always seem to need to over analyse music and seem unable to see it for what it is - an excellent album! And as for Dexys Midnight Runners - simply because an Undertones once said they were OK is no reason I can't say they are total crap! So who is going to see that band (who aren't really The Undertones) in Dublin. i hear their first album is just out and is a cracker! Arthur on 11:12 7th-Oct-03 GMT #dc6-24392 Got the album yesterday - the first half is as good as anything they've ever done and the second half might be as well but I didn't know the songs as well so I'll need to give it a few more listens. I don't know what a proper Undertones album is as they have consistently changed on every album they've ever done. If they hadn't changed they'd be the punk equivalent of Status Quu!This album is more mature, they're middle aged men and the songs reflect that. I found the Moondogs album a bit disconcerting because although the songs were very good a lot were written as though the writer was still in his teens. As for Its Gonna Happen - I love it but thats me. Dave R on 11:41 7th-Oct-03 GMT #395-24393 Liam – at least we agree it’s a great album! My Dexys comments are slightly ambiguous – I wasn’t advocating that just because The Undertones once said they were OK, then we should all love them. I just like both bands on their own merits. As you say, I did ask for people’s opinions… and I certainly got yours! I’ll resist the temptation of calling the NEW UNDERTONES album Volume 2, Issue 1…!!! I’m bloody joking…! Has anyone seen the dodgy Rockpalast / promo video DVD on eBay? cormac on 12:39 7th-Oct-03 GMT #a4d-24394 Anyone got a setlist last night? Can you put it online somewhere? Ta Lee on 12:45 7th-Oct-03 GMT #64a-24395 At Northampton there were various mentions of the new album but as you've all said they were more embarrassed mutterings rather than a 'Get out and buy it'. I don't really understand this - the timing of the tour can be no coincidence other than to try to help promote the album. No-one going to any of these gigs would mind knowing that there were an album coming out. I'm sure there were people in the audience going out of curiosity for the old days that may not have even known there was an album due out. If the band are serious about carrying on they have to wise up a bit on this front I think. Thinking back there wasn't even a poster in the venue about the album. Even the support band had some cd's available I think. Rick on 12:58 7th-Oct-03 GMT #2a9-24396 I have to agree with you Lee. We would all love for the album to do well and the band have renewed success. At the Garage last night everyone was handed promotional flyers for the new album and the recent compilation as they entered the venue but this was not done at the Leeds gig I was at on Saturday. Are they assuming only Londoners are important in terms of album sales ? The band also consistently plugged the album from the stage - again this didn't happen at Leeds. Its all very well us all saying we like em cos they're modest but I'm pleased the new songs are as good as they are (everyone knows I had reservations about the band reforming in 2000) and hope there are more new songs in the future. This is probably unlikely if the album bombs. Does anyone know how many copies Sanctuary are hoping to sell ? Lee on 13:04 7th-Oct-03 GMT #64a-24397 Now, now you 2! I'm all for disagreement on here-it stirs things up but as long as it's in a debate or exchange of views then it's good. It's about time we had some disagreement anyway as Clif and Rick seem to agree on everything these days. Descend into abuse and it gets out of hand and I lose interest. After saying that I'd like to stir it up further by siding with 1 of you but can't. I don't really care whether this is or isn't the Undertones 5th album. I'm just glad that there is a band playing great powerful live music that gives the chance to recall those old songs and that have made an album worth listening to. The name means a lot to us but if Feargal had some legal agreement that meant they couldn't use the name and they called themselves something else but played the same set releasing the same new album would we be bothered? Lee on 13:07 7th-Oct-03 GMT #64a-24398 Meant to end saying would we be bothered about whether it was or wasn't the undertones 5th album. I doubt it. You could say that there were 2 O' Neills in TPE but I won't go down that route. Re Dexy's it might have been far too shortlived but there were a few years where they really were the band of the moment IMO. I am thinking of going to see them later in the year out of curiosity. Anyone know who is in this incarnation of the band? cliff on 13:23 7th-Oct-03 GMT #71b-24399 Yes, far more plugging of the album last night.Nothing wrong with it at all when you have 7/800 people wondering how they can get to hear more of the new songs, its a crime NOT to promote it.Some 'respect' last night for those that travelled from Stockport(Pete Bloor),Preston(Malc W),Stote007(flew over just for the gig from Holland)and Derek who drove to Northampton on Sunday, went home, did a full days work then straight down to London and home again after.Well done George, the only one to make every gig.Nice to know there are others more nuts than me. Cliff on 13:30 7th-Oct-03 GMT #71b-24401 To answer your question Lee, yes I'd be bothered. It HAS to be The Undertones.Listening to the CD,'Cruellest thing' is exciting, and 'Enough' is very very catchey, even little Ollie is moving his legs and nodding his head.On the negative side, not keen on the rockabilly type guitar on the otherwise excellent 'touch', I never noticed that live, and not keen at all on 'Winter Sun', it reminds me of the stuff before they split up in '83. stote007 on 13:34 7th-Oct-03 GMT #8ae-24402 Back in NL, starting to flag. Flight delayed by 1.5 hours due to bad weather in Amsterdam after having crawled out of my pit at 0530. It was worth it! Roll on Saturday. Jon on 14:12 7th-Oct-03 GMT #397-24403 Headline: Phew what a scorcher - Garage burns as Undertones give full house what they need... Last night was a great contrast to Northampton, the set list may have been the same but very much a different atmosphere and took less than two seconds for the crowd to be rocking. Both were hugely enjoyable of course. Only wish I was fit enough to keep up with you all in the mosh pit. Arthur on 14:13 7th-Oct-03 GMT #d74-24404 I love Winter Sun because it is so different - why not be different and challenging. How do you know its the Undertones? Because they're behaving like they've always done, releasing stuff they want to release, not really pushing or plugging it? They were always like that so who are we to try and change them, even though its the logical thing to do and all the points made on that front are right? Trying to get them to change is something that I think is next to impossible anyway. Arthur on 14:15 7th-Oct-03 GMT #d74-24405 Stote - when are you arriving in Belfast? I should be able to give you a lift up to Derry. Jon on 14:19 7th-Oct-03 GMT #397-24406 Lets just be very very pleased they have released a fifth album. To me it has to be The Undertones and it is - who else could have written and performed songs and hooks like Enough, Oh Please, Thrill Me, Everything but you. It is 20 years later and we do not want duplication but a lot of the content gels well (especially live) with the first 2 albums. Yet to really get into Winter Sun but perhaps its the follow up to Beautiful Friend with a few more listens. Jon on 14:23 7th-Oct-03 GMT #397-24407 Agree with everything you say Arthur - always different and challenging the expected. No plugging was always part of their existence so that's not going to change and I wouldn't want it to. I'll go and listen to Winter Sun again. Cliff on 14:32 7th-Oct-03 GMT #934-24408 Nothing wrong with different Arthur, I love 'sigh & explode','Fairly in the money' & 'Kiss in the dark', they were all quite different at the time.'Winter Sun' just dosent do it for me...although like Jon I'll give it a few more listens yet. Cliff on 14:38 7th-Oct-03 GMT #934-24409 BTW, 'girls that Don't talk' was again the pick of the bunch last night, absolutely spot on...and 'There goes Norman' went down a storm.I'd say the mosh pit was atleast 10 rows deep and double that for the old classics.Pauls intensity for 'Oh Please' had to be seen to be believed, he was scaring the hell out of me. Vinny on 14:42 7th-Oct-03 GMT #49c-24410 OH PLEASE has to be one of the greatest songs ever Cliff on 14:43 7th-Oct-03 GMT #934-24411 Re 'its gonna happen', dont get me wrong I love the song but just not so keen on it live, the complete opposite of other Undertones stuff in that respect. Its coz I dont think its so good without the horn section, it always sounds as if their struggling thru it to me.I'd like to start a campaign for keeping in 'Top 20', a great encore song and everyone joins in on the 'hey hey hey's'. Jon on 15:55 7th-Oct-03 GMT #9f4-24412 Yep Top Twenty and particularly Norman are great additions to the set. Keep them, add Enough (please) and maybe drop Happen and Lindsay's favourite Lets Talk About Girls (finished the set last night but missing at Northampton I think) and we'll all be happy. Perhaps Happen is one of the rare tracks that actually sounds better on vinyl (or CD) than live. Lewis on 15:58 7th-Oct-03 GMT #9f4-24413 Got the album this mornin, been playing it non stop, local our price didn,t have it so i travelled 18 miles down the road to get it at virgin in Ayr.Love the whole album, can,t stop playing Joyland,Ineed your love the way it used to be,Shut down, and Girl like you(The boys done us proud). If any of the Tones are reading please, please aGlasgow date soon. Rick on 16:57 7th-Oct-03 GMT #2a9-24414 Ordered my album from Play.com as its cheaper but am still waiting for it. 'Top 20' was always one of my favourite songs mainly for the way it turns into T.Rex's 'Solid Gold Easy Action' at the end. Rick on 16:59 7th-Oct-03 GMT #2a9-24415 When talking to Mickey on Saturday after the gig he said that the band often check what we are saying on this site but that most of the time he says we're talking 'football or shite'. I'm sure he was joking. wilke on 17:16 7th-Oct-03 GMT #8a3-24416 well if the band read this pleses play SOCTLAND soon as i need to get a weekend break soon .ps you have some great fan`s there to tssy Jackie on 17:45 7th-Oct-03 GMT #b05-24417 Gawd, you boys sure can pit yak!!!!! Vinny on 18:05 7th-Oct-03 GMT #49c-24418 Rick, that is really really funny; I can just see Mickey's face saying this also. Now, anyone for soccer??? Cliff on 18:08 7th-Oct-03 GMT #934-24419 Yes you lot, stop talking shite ;-) Lee on 18:42 7th-Oct-03 GMT #753-24421 Cliff you surprise me. So if there were had been some disagreement between Feargal and the band and they couldn't use the name you wouldn't be interested? Same band of 5 making the same music but with a different name and you wouldn't go to see them? I got slagged a while back for suggesting that I didn't see the point of reformations for the sake of it and that the thing that made this exciting was that they were making new music and not just retreading the same old songs each Christmas. I just don't care if the name is The Undertones, The Undertones Mark II or whatever. The important thing for me is that Sunday night I saw a superb band create the energy and passion in their music that interests me and soon I hope that the postman will deliver my overdue cd so that I can get equally excited about that. Even though I meant to go and buy it I haven't got quite as excited about the latest compilation to the point where I still haven't bought it. Lee on 18:47 7th-Oct-03 GMT #753-24422 Let me just add though that I think it is great that they can use the name and that they have simply adapted the same philosophy for the present day. It still works. Driving home this evening I kept thinking of things like - Were New Order albums Joy Division or not? Are the Manic Street Preachaeres actually the Manic Street Preachers. And how bizarre is the 21st Century Doors band doing the rounds? Jackie on 19:00 7th-Oct-03 GMT #b05-24423 This has made me think too. The band members have had lots of incarnations and while I liked TPE and went to see them a few times, I soon lost interest. Now that theyre the undertones again, I'm back into it all. The reason- playing the 'old' songs live!! As much as I rate the new stuff, and I really do, I hope they dont stop playing at least some of the older material. Cos I might lose interest again. Is that an awful thing to say? Dont worry, I'll probably contradict myself in 2 minutes time! Lee on 19:12 7th-Oct-03 GMT #753-24424 I keep contradicting myself too Jackie in my mind. I think I'm one of the few that actually enjoy Sin of Pride as much as the other albums. It never got a look in on Sunday. Anyone know if anything from that will make it's way back into the set or have the band given up on that 1? Cliff on 19:36 7th-Oct-03 GMT #6a9-24425 Its a good point Jackie and I was thinking about that driving home last night(James Whale got boring). If the Undertones were to record a 2nd new album, lets say they'd have 25 new tracks...enough for a gig without any of the old stuff.Any thoughts on that everyone? Jon on 19:43 7th-Oct-03 GMT #9f4-24426 Until I saw them play Thrill Me at St Patricks day in London I was a little unsure about the idea of new stuff but now I feel it just blends so well. Live it really is like a new album usually is (only noone else matches The Undertones)with all great old songs thrown in. I don't think we need worry Jackie they'll always play plenty of the old ones. That was one of reasons why last night was so great - all the people around you singing/jumping along with runaraound, family entertainment as well as jimmy jimmy, GOY and TK. Having said that Thrill Me and Oh Please did leave the crowd still either. Cliff on 19:44 7th-Oct-03 GMT #6a9-24427 It's an interesting one Lee, I see what you're saying.I'm not sure what I'd do.Imagine Albion had dire financial problems and went out of business, but then started again as West Bromwich Town or Sandwell Albion, don't you think it would lose its magic? I'm not saying I'd never see them again but it wouldn't be the same.Or how about this, imagine Feargal got himself a backing group and went on tour as 'The Undertones'.Lets be honest, I'd bet we'd all go atleast once out of curiousity, but that would be all. Jon on 19:49 7th-Oct-03 GMT #9f4-24428 That should say didn't leave the crowd still... So why do we talk football on here. I guess its because the joy of seeing your team win is a bit like seeing the Undertones in terms of adrenalin/energy. Mind you The Undertones always entertain and win... Back to work and reality tomorrow. I will post the get what you need advert up. Cliff on 19:50 7th-Oct-03 GMT #6a9-24429 Lee, 'Soul Seven' was played a couple of years ago and of course 'Bittersweet', but nothing else.Actually I think 'Luxury' wouldn't have been out of place on 'Get what you need'. wilke on 19:58 7th-Oct-03 GMT #8a3-24430 they played thrill me on today fm tonight and gave out the irish dates allso the band will be droping in on fri night before the gig for an interview ok talk soon see ya Lee on 20:14 7th-Oct-03 GMT #753-24431 Yes - I'd probably go along out of curiosity but if there were no spark or interest that would kill it for me. This is different. The Moondogs have reformed and made an album - still not sure if it's The Moondogs or The Moondogs Mark II. All I know is it's a damn good album. TV21 were a great favourite of mine. Norman Rodger went on to make albums under the name Shame and Sugarland with many of the same names and faces in the band. I would still go to see them if ever the chance occurred while they played good music. The second it became the annual Christmas trawl through the greatest hits and that's it I'd be off. Thankfully Sunday for me confirmed all your opinions that this is a band worth seeing and listening to. Lee on 20:16 7th-Oct-03 GMT #753-24432 But football is different. Players and managers come and go in football but we still lve them because of the name. I see your point totally on that one. Odd isn't it? wilke on 21:03 7th-Oct-03 GMT #8a3-24433 hello as i said today i got a tribute cd of the undertones sent to me today just played it.its not bad but not great .george i dont think it`s the same one you had in the mini bus to cork .the bands names are cub pandsy division clay wheels ufofu the figgs has anyone ever heared of these bands talk soon see ya Wayne on 21:09 7th-Oct-03 GMT #c4f-24434 Gig, work, gig, work- first chance I’ve had to properly take in the last few days postings. Things getting a bit aeriated, as they say in Norfolkshire, to say the least. I got the CD in HMV today (after relocating the remaining CD’s to a more prominent selling position). Managed a complete play thru on the 45 mile drive home from work and another at home- my verdict (WITHOUT PREJUDICE)- fantastic, has a ''live'' feel to it and hasn’t been overproduced. That’s all I am going to say. Lee on 21:09 7th-Oct-03 GMT #753-24435 And on football why is it England seem on the path to self destruction just before the biggest game for 18 months? I thought you should get everyone up for a game not throw the whole lot into confusion. Wayne on 21:14 7th-Oct-03 GMT #c4f-24436 Further reminisce on last nights gig at the Garage. Little did I think 24 years and 1 day before, as I joyously pogoed away at my first Undertones gig in Cambridge, that one day I would have 3 sons who all enjoy much of the same music as me (with the exception of the Ibiza trance stuff- to each as own before anyone says anything) and that I would be pogoing with the oldest two at the end of an Undertones gig as we tried to get to stage front in a (failed) attempt to get Billy’s sticks or a set list. A memory forever. henry on 21:27 7th-Oct-03 GMT #c23-24437 I've just spotted a whingeing review of the Garage gig, in The (london) evening standard. Although its pleasing that there is some acknowledgement in the media of the Undertones, the reviewer a certain Mr John Aizlewood, gives one of the reasons for the reformation as Mickey being unhappy with his job as a Motorcycle courier (new one on me) and then claims Paul can't sing ( ie he's not feargal) and looks like Rab C Nesbitt (...actually!). I never buy this paper, just pick it up on the tube, as its an offensive Tory rag..I won't even bother picking it up anymore. Wayne on 21:34 7th-Oct-03 GMT #c4f-24438 Henry R- I bought the Ebay DVD a couple of weeks ago from the same seller- good quality and arrived in under a week from NZ. Wayne on 21:36 7th-Oct-03 GMT #c4f-24439 Off for another play of the CD and some light pogoing in preparation for Derry. Wayne on 21:46 7th-Oct-03 GMT #c4f-24440 WILKE- did u get the Brighton flyer? Not much luck on the poster front but picked up a couple of flyers for N'hampton and Garage gigs for you. Cactus on 22:33 7th-Oct-03 GMT #d85-24441 Just got in from work. Aren't we all so very unfit?! Perhaps we need to sort out some sort of Undertones 'boot camp' to get us all fit? (Think the rather silly video for Bowling for Soup's Punk Rock 101 if you know it.) I really really tried to jump up and down all the way through True Confessions last night but only managed about two thirds of it before I realised that I wasn't going to make it and stay Conscious. (Isn't TC the best song to pogo to if you want to jump really high?) too tired to write more now. AlexD on 22:42 7th-Oct-03 GMT #763-24442 I have no controversy to offer. I think the album is excellent. If you watch the film you get the feeling it was always 'The Undertones' and Feargal. For me it's an Undertones album. I love the guitar bit on Touch, and it was played that way live. Is that Mickey having a wee dig at U2 on Oh Please. I took to Winter Sun straight away, loosen up the elasticated waistband and enjoy it :) AlexD on 22:43 7th-Oct-03 GMT #763-24443 How much is the album in the shops? I got mine from Play.com this morning Rick. AlexD on 22:46 7th-Oct-03 GMT #763-24444 It's also worth a mention for the goodies, lyrics and video. Anyone know who made the video? Cliff on 23:21 7th-Oct-03 GMT #7e3-24445 I have noticed the guitar bit on 'touch' when I've heard it live, but it sounds stronger and better.I didnt wear the elastics last night, went back to the 'ol jeans with belt...a fatal mistake in that heat.I hope you lot north of the border can produce an atmosphere like last night, but i doubt it ;-) AlexD on 23:28 7th-Oct-03 GMT #763-24446 I know what your trying to do Clifford, and I'm too happy with my new purchase to bother. I hope we get the chance to try. Donald will sort you out. Cliff on 23:47 7th-Oct-03 GMT #2ca-24447 Donald will be to busy gliding effortlessly across the dance floor. How does he do that? AlexD on 23:56 7th-Oct-03 GMT #763-24448 On his head !!! :) Arthur on 00:16 8th-Oct-03 GMT #8b7-24449 Its a great album - deceptively simple but the more you hear it, the more you hear going on. Love Rough Escalator (Chicory Tip meets T Rex) and Enough. Point is they're back being brilliant and thats a good thing. Video was made by Lofty Cunningham I think. AlexD on 00:20 8th-Oct-03 GMT #763-24450 Never heard of him is he any good? doninblack on 00:35 8th-Oct-03 GMT #3f2-24451 After several listens to the new album the verdict is pure class from start to finish. Great songs with a suitably straight forward production. It fair whizzes by and holds your attention all the way through. Definitely up there with the first two albums. Can't wait to hear Joyland LIVE IN SCOTLAND - soon! doninblack on 00:43 8th-Oct-03 GMT #3f2-24452 Girl Like You is a hit single begging to be released. Catchy as f***. I can see that one on TOTP for sure!!! Vinny on 01:05 8th-Oct-03 GMT #49c-24453 The video features, I think, something like 7 or 8 different gigs, from 1999 to 2003, from Derry to Berlin, all synchronised to THRILL ME record. It also includes the shots of the Peel Session recording. Not bad going for 3 days work!! It was made as an extra on the CD but I think it's a great 'live'promo, even if I say so myself!- 'Lofty' Cunningham Vinny on 01:22 8th-Oct-03 GMT #49c-24454 'Peerless riffs, brilliantly skewed harmonies and dynamic splendour – a group this good doesn't deserve to be left on the shelf. Rest assured, McLoone has done their legacy proud' - **** Uncut
