Got the album. I think most tracks have a live feel to them and Paul's voice seems different on every track (Feargal-like on 'Thrill Me' and . Mickey's songs are the catchiest and sound most like old Undertones but I think John's sound more like TPE. I love 'Winter Sun'. 'Riding the Rough Escalator' was compared by my friends on Monday to Shania Twain and I can see what they mean. Favourite track I think is 'Joyland' and 'Touch' (great rockabilly feel).

I meant to say non-Feargal-like on most other tracks.

Dear All,last night I recieved a threatening private e-mail under the heading 'Undertones'.Doina was standing over my shoulder talking to me but fortunately she obviously wasn't paying attention to the screen coz she didnt say anything,but I hit 'delete' immediately.I thought about this last night and again this morning and decided I'd put this message up coz I'm not coming back on, its crap when this sort of stuff happens and I dont need it.I've always seen this forum as if theres a large group down the pub, all different types of people, all giving an opinion, sometimes disagreeing, winding each other up etc etc.But it should be FUN and not a punch up.I hope I'll be in touch with some of you privately and obviously see you at future gigs.

I should just add the message wasn't from an address I recognised(although I only had a quick glimpse at it)and it wasn't signed, of course.

Cliff - don't let one idiot influence you. There are some nasty people out there. You dropping off this site is probably just what they want to achieve. Anyway, the rest of us would all miss you too much (even me mate). Please reconsider and come back.

I haven't downloaded it yet but there are 4 'unknown' tracks to download on Espen's TPE site. He asked on his discussion board for someone to tell him the titles as he didn't know them. Someone has replied saying it is Bittersweet. This recording is from the TPE pre Steve Mack days. I would have thought Espen would know Bittersweet but it may be worth a listen

Cliff, you can't desert us. Did someone take your north of the border bit a bit too seriously I wonder. It's a shame they had to take the cowardly way out instead of just posting a message on here to express their feelings. It is worrying when it's a private mail so I can understand your reasons. I suppose there's always old tensions surfacing amongst a few so I guess we have to accept there are some people out there who will take offence to things said on here. But god other websites I've looked at are far more offensive. The internet has lots of advantages but it's not a nice place when threats can be made anonymously behind a computer screen.

Spoke very briefly to Cliff today at Lunchtime (not a good time to phone someone who owns a Diner- doh). I may have this wrong but I think the abuse was more 'How dare you voice your opinions on The Undertones unless they are 100% positive' rather than the Anna 'undertones are pish' type stuff. If I have this wrong I am sorry but how can some small dicked retard with two neurons (one inhibitory) possibly think they represent the band and send an anonymous threatening email to someone like Cliff who clearly loves the band. The great thing about this site is that we can talk shite, voice opinions about music with other like minded people.Does someone think there opinion on the Undertones is worth more than someone else's? I am just glad that there other Undertones fans out there that Idiscovered through this site and I cant believe than some 'fan'(ny) would slag off another fan for voicing his opinion. I bet they have never put themselves out of pocket having T Shirts made not knowing how many would sell.

like Cliff has done many times. I never thought I would be writing something like this on the day I finally managed to purchase the CD. I still cannot beleive that someone would be so truly pathetic as to send an anonymous email - how 12 year old bitchy little girlish. Cliff, dont go away, we need you! But it is scary to have emails like that, this is the worry of the net. It makes you realise that there can be intolerant,scary people out there. Sometimes it can get close to home. I know whenever the abusive posts have got onto the site I just stop posting for awhile because even that can feel intimidating. But Alex is right- you cant let you stop you contributing, cos they've won.

Funny moment from the Northampton gig- band walk on stage (they say after that they had been practicing walking on and launching straight into first song) however someone’s amp wasn’t working and in the 3 or 4 (long) minutes that the crew tried to sort it out Mickey was at a bit of a loss as to what to do/say until eventually he ‘welcomed’ us all to the “”Good Ship Undertones”” whereupon Paul instantly did a convincing fog horn impression, to the amusement of the band and audience alike.

Bizarre moment was when I noticed, during the set, a group of lads on the edge of the dancing, who were stood immediately in front of Mickey (remember the stage was only about 2 inches high - people were standing their drinks on it literally at the feet of the band). They were sorting out their drinks kitty in the middle of a song and I looked at Mickey (since we were virtually at eye level) and saw him look up from his guitar and frown in bemusement as he watched for 10 or 15 seconds the lads sort their money in a glass right in front of him.

London was much slicker. Saw Paul wander thru the crowd to the bar beforehand and then watch the support band for a little while. Onstage he was awesome - didn’t just sing, he performed- it was as intense a performance as I’ve have seen in a long time.
