Magherhallion @ on 09:17 10th-Oct-03 GMT #a4d-24420
Last night was funking great lads. It was great to see songs that I tried learning on the guitar 18 years ago (when I was 12) being played for real by the originals. First class. Come back again soon!

mikem on 09:17 10th-Oct-03 GMT #b74-24467

Adrian. on 09:19 10th-Oct-03 GMT #7b4-24469
Is it me,or does Paul sound like Steve Mack on some of the new tracks?(funnily enough I had a quick chat with Steve on Monday)great gig on Monday, but one complaint. Can all the dickheads who wanteded to stand down the front with their girlfreinds and kept getting annoyed if there was a crush please f**k off and get a life.If you don't want to be pushed and shoved don't stand at the front.Obvious really.

Adrian on 09:19 10th-Oct-03 GMT #7b4-24470
It would be ironic if Oh Please is a dig at U2 as in the sleevenotes they thank Joe O'Herlihy who has been U2's sound man for nigh on 25 years. p.s.Lots of Johnny Cash fans about if the reaction to my J.Cash t-shirt on Monday was anything to go by.

bill on 09:19 10th-Oct-03 GMT #6d1-24476
strummer would be turning in his grave if he knew the clash sold out to the car ds-bruce is the most radical that you can go & get top 40 play.

I am who I am. on 09:20 10th-Oct-03 GMT #b6b-24488

Thanks, Arthur, for the offer. I'm coming with the family and spending a few days so hiring a car. Will see you in Sandinos.

George on 08:29 10th-Oct-03 GMT #100-24516
first day at work for a week, and I can't get in my office yet! Still waiting for my keys to be returned. Maybe it's a sign I should be in Ireland.

Cliff on 08:31 10th-Oct-03 GMT #6a9-24517
Wayne, hes obviously with the band so he wont get my message in time.Never mind, thanks anyway.

Adrian. on 09:15 10th-Oct-03 GMT #7b4-24518
Just a quick thank you to Rick.A couple of weeks ago he mentioned going to see Killing Joke.I hadn't listened to them for years and hadn't seen them since '81.I bought the new album and it is f**king amazing and I saw them in Northampton last night.Top gig,Jaz is still a lunatic,we need more like him.So thanks for the tip off Rick. Now,only one more posting to go.

wilke on 09:40 10th-Oct-03 GMT #8a3-24520
stote back on line send me an e mail ok

Rick on 10:39 10th-Oct-03 GMT #2a9-24521
I agree with you Adrian. The new Killing Joke album is awesome and so powerful. Great to hear a band singing songs that are critical of the US invasion of Iraq too - no other atrists are doing this and they should be. I was at the Leeds gig on Sunday and it was so intense. I'm seeing them tomorrow again in London. Hate to say it on this site but KJ are still the greatest live band I've ever seen.

AlexD on 12:54 10th-Oct-03 GMT #050-24523
Thanks Arthur, I'm flying to Derry in a couple of hours. Hope to see everyone in Sandino's tomorrow night. I'll be the one carrying Wilke's wallet.

Vinny on 12:58 10th-Oct-03 GMT #d0d-24524
Cliff, what was that message about? Is Wayne now playing with The Undertones?! Alex, your Smirnoff is on ice as we speak!! See ya soon

wilke on 13:00 10th-Oct-03 GMT #8a3-24525

Lee on 13:01 10th-Oct-03 GMT #64a-24526
Oh no! Cliff's back. There will be no shutting him up now. Only joking Cliff - welcome back.

Lee on 13:02 10th-Oct-03 GMT #64a-24527
Steve - you said you'd never go! Should have given me a call - couldn't make Leicester but could have picked you up en route to Northampton. You could have helped me find the damn place then.

Cliff on 13:07 10th-Oct-03 GMT #4a6-24528
Vinny, I sent Nim an e-mail to see if he could give my banner to Wayne who'd agreed to bring it back to England so I could collect it.But Nim is obviously away with the band so possibly wont get the message 'til its to late.Apparently it's in his office in the Nerve Centre, can you help?

Derek on 13:24 10th-Oct-03 GMT #590-24529
Wow what a week. Late making comment, but just too knackered to write. Someone once wrote about The Undertones that they could raise the dead. After The brilliant Garage gig (and the previous Sheffield and Northampton gigs), driving home at all hours, hard days at work, I arrived at Leicester truly zombified. You guessed it. How can you not get in the mosh pit. If ever I'm in a coma (and if you want to get me out- some might say leave him) play the tones (new as well as old songs). I am hoping that vinny's DVD will have a fitness section on it so I can prepare for the next lot! Pogo up, pogo down, head butt left, headbutt right and spit. Great to meet you all. Hope to see you again at the next that I can make. Fantastic gigs, with The Garage just brilliant. Off to listen to my c.d now.

Vinny on 14:16 10th-Oct-03 GMT #5d9-24530
Cliff, leave it with me. I am calling to Nerve Centre later on.

donald on 15:07 10th-Oct-03 GMT #a4b-24531
Good to have you back Cliff. I bet Doina's really pleased! I saw KJ once in early 80's and they were great, Jaz was one scary individual on stage. Really enjoying 'Get what you need', i want a few more listens before making commets but all I will say is 'Oh Please' is up there with their best tracks and the lyrics are hilarious. have a great time in Derry tomorrow all and remember to have something to eat before the gig. Off to Motorhead tonight so that'll be me deaf for the rest of the w/e.

George on 15:35 10th-Oct-03 GMT #100-24532
Went to play the new CD player on my DVD last night expecting to watch the Thrill Me video. Forgot about it being an enhanced CD and not a DVD. CD sounded brilliant thru' my TV though. There were instruments and riffs being played that I never heard in four days of playing Get What You Need in my car.

Jackie on 17:12 10th-Oct-03 GMT #b05-24533
No Arthur you are not the only one. It happened to me years ago :) Too much money in the hands of people with too small brains= professional football!

Jackie on 17:13 10th-Oct-03 GMT #b05-24534
Sorry before Cliff and George go ballistic, not ALL footballers have too much money. Dont want to be accused of generalising! :0)

donald on 17:31 10th-Oct-03 GMT #a4b-24535
Good point Jackie. I dont want to contradict an Undertone but Mickey B apparently said that on this site we are either 'talking football or talking shite'. He obviously hasn't thought that one through. wish I was in Derry Wish I was in derry, na na na na

AlexD on 18:16 10th-Oct-03 GMT #8a3-24538
Live and Kicking in Derry, see if i can say the same after Wilke's cooking !!!

stote007 on 18:58 10th-Oct-03 GMT #cf8-24539
I'll be there in less than 24 hours!!

Wayne on 18:58 10th-Oct-03 GMT #c4f-24540
Arthur- thanks but bringing my 3 'ankle biters' with me and have hired a car too. Stote- we arrive Belfast from Stansted at 8:30am- if you see a possee that resembles (in actions not size) an episode of The Simpsons Go To See the Undertones- that'll be us :)

Cactus on 19:34 10th-Oct-03 GMT #5f2-24541
Good for you Cliff. I was worried I'd have to find another Albion fan to gloat to when West Ham go top. Could have taken me years...

Cactus on 19:39 10th-Oct-03 GMT #5f2-24542
Was back at the Garage on Wednesday to see Cinerama. Cinerama are great; some of the best songs about and possibly the most charismatic front man in any band in David Gedge. However, after seeing the Undertones on Monday, Cinerama really seemed quite ordinary. I sometimes think I just think the Undertones are great live, but it's only becasue I like them so much. I remember seeing Big Country live in 1983 soon after seeing the Undertones and it felt just the same then too, ordinary. What am I going on about here?

Cactus on 19:46 10th-Oct-03 GMT #5f2-24543
What's everyone's fav song on the new album? Mine has to be Oh Please. Not only is the tune just great, it's great live and its got 'different' lyrics to most Undertones songs, it also has probably the worse rhyme since ‘challenge and cabbage’, with ‘flesh and Welsh’. Worth it for that alone.

Cactus on 19:55 10th-Oct-03 GMT #5f2-24544
Went in the same pub/bar on Wednesday as some of us did before the gig on Monday. Playing on the jukebox when I walked in was TK.

Cactus on 20:00 10th-Oct-03 GMT #5f2-24545
Listening to the new album, I realised what it was most that made it sound like the Undertones, (other than great songs). It's the backing vocals that Mickey and Damian do; that more than anything makes the link for me between the old and the new. They haven't changed and they're instantly recognisable amongst the new tunes, Paul's vocals and the modern production.

Steve on 20:50 10th-Oct-03 GMT #9f4-24546
Lee....Could'nt have made it to the Northampton gig...Wish I could have gone Now ....Of Course!!!!! Lindsay....Yes I know I said I would never go, I here by eat my words and look forward to the next gig. I went to see Killing Joke a couple of weeks ago in Wolverhampton for the first time since the Eighties, yes they were stunning, Jeremy, sorry! Jaz was full of pent up aggression. In some ways the Undertones set reminded me of the KJ set, earlier material favoured over later stuff mixed with new material. Their New LP has taken me a while to get into but I love it now, mainly due to jaz's strange vocals..

Wayne on 21:14 10th-Oct-03 GMT #c4f-24547
Cactus- sorry didn't have time to exchange HR stories- kids....school....work.... Brighton?

Wayne on 21:34 10th-Oct-03 GMT #c4f-24548
Anyone else installed the screen saver from the CD then been woken up by Thrill Me playing in the middle of the night!! ?.

Wayne on 21:52 10th-Oct-03 GMT #c4f-24549
...or even You Cant Say That :)

Cliff on 22:36 10th-Oct-03 GMT #6a9-24550
Not woken up Wayne but we were sitting chatting in the bedroom and it scared us to death!!(sounded great though).Fantastic programme on TV tonight, 'Grumpy old men'...so it ISN'T just me,yippeeee!

George on 22:51 10th-Oct-03 GMT #6cd-24551
I know this might sound greedy with two CDs released in the last 5 weeks, but whatever happened to the new Peel session CD. I'm sure Santuary gave it number 179. Has anyone ever heard 'song number one' and 'romeo and juliet'.

Arthur on 01:13 11th-Oct-03 GMT #726-24552
Hi George - I heard just like Romeo and Juliet when it weas first broadcast on 'Kid' Jensen's Radio 1 show. Wayne; there's no way I could pick you up at 8.30 am so I'll see you in Sandino's. Cactus, I know where you are coming from. I'm a music fan, I'll listen to most things and why I love the Undertones is simple; they're the best I've ever seen and their records are fantastic. A lot of people don't believe that, perhaps its because the band have never really sold themselves that well but the fact is they are brilliant at what they do. I bought two other albums recently, Frank Black & the Catholics which has 4 outstanding tracks on it and Josh Rouse which has a couple. Both of these albums got 4 stars. Get What You Need is superior to both them - the more I listen to it, the better it gets. Its so diverse and tuneful: - absolute class.

Arthur on 01:21 11th-Oct-03 GMT #726-24553
Can I make a little confession. I'm just so happy that the album is brilliant; I was worried in case (whisper it) they'd lost it. I would never have said anything here but it was a concern. When I heard the tracks live etc, I was thinking well ok but...Now I've got the album, I've been blown away, it is that good. It certainly rates with their previous work and I'm so relieved. It's also great to see that God (J J O'Neill) has some serious competition from Michael Bradley whose songs are excellent. Fuck, I just love them and I'll fight to the death anyone who says different. As for Killing Joke doesn't their front man live right at the heart of things on the Gaza Strip or does he live in (er) New Zealand?

wilke on 01:29 11th-Oct-03 GMT #8a3-24554
