Musings
Think that the new album is really great - genuinely happy and surprised as I thought a lot of the songs played live sounded too retro - as if the band were trying too hard to be The Undertones circa. 1981. A lovely contemporary feel to the production and it helps that the power pop/punk speed is all the rage. Does anyone have any idea how well the thing is selling or if it is receiving any media/radio attention. And finally, are there any reviews anywhere? Den Warrick @ on 10:06 21st-Oct-03 GMT #48a-24777 Could anyone seeing Terry Hooley give him my regards fer oul times and my e-mail address (denwarrick@hotmail.com). I was a bit of the furniture on Sundays in his High Street happening hideout around 1970. Still have thick clots of blood on my old Harmony Sovereign guitar from where Mel tried to replace the bolt on the door with his finger to prevent traddie rowdies coming in and robbing him of his promised singing spot. Regards all round Den Warrick Jo @ on 10:06 21st-Oct-03 GMT #65a-24778 It's my Birthday today, I'm 37, I've had absinthe and vodka for lunch and my severely bruised toenail acquired at the Leeds gig has just dropped off. There. I feel tons better for getting that off my chest (and my toe). Angelus @ on 10:06 21st-Oct-03 GMT #96e-24787 Amazing album, I agree with most of the comments .....although'ride the rough escalotor' is pretty high up in my opinion... But.. 'Touch' has to be it!!!!..if anyone needs a copy of 'the late late show' let me know.... George on 08:29 21st-Oct-03 GMT #100-24788 I think part of Shutdown sounds like Bodies by the Sex Pistols. Liam @ on 10:42 21st-Oct-03 GMT [www.theundertones.com] #3b0-24790 Lets bombard LATER with requests for the Undertones. You never know! Lee on 12:54 21st-Oct-03 GMT #64a-24791 My 3 year old has been brainwashed nicely. Sorry - that should read - My 3 year old is developing a nice sense of sound. Whenever we get in the car now she asks for 'The Sunshine Song' (Bring on the Sunshine by the Moondogs). Recently I've been playing new album in the car, best of in the house. So now she comes along in the house and asks for her favourite record - Bit a Sweet otherwise known as Bittersweet the almost lost treasure from the Sin of Pride. She's even managed to figure out when the Bittersweet to me lyrics cut in. AlexD on 17:30 21st-Oct-03 GMT [www.toffs.com/] #2b9-24794 Absinthe and Vodka, mmmm sacrilicious.. Here you go Clifford, get one of these on and take a stroll down memory lane, one here for you too Vincenzo. Where's wilke??? Anyone know how Clare got on. Jackie on 17:59 21st-Oct-03 GMT #b05-24795 Lee what about the permanent loop tape of GWYN and Peel sessions/Thrill Me/I'll Carry this light on the other side? I've been playing mine now non stop for two weeks back and forward to work. Really considerate of the band to make it short enought to fit on a 45 minute tape. David was telling me how the Strokes new album is very short- is it 27 minutes? Now thats just not value for money!!! (Does anyone know how long GWYN is by the way?) Wayne on 20:08 21st-Oct-03 GMT #a29-24797 George- I agree. Lee- friend of mine 6yr old daughter always puts TK on but insists they are singing Teenage Kisses. Wayne on 20:10 21st-Oct-03 GMT #a29-24798 Anyone know if the RTE repeat is tonight or tomorrow? Vinny on 20:31 21st-Oct-03 GMT [www.rte.ie] #69c-24800 Wayne: RTE told me 2.25am approx on Weds so I assume that it is tonight/ tomorrow morning, know what I mean?!! Lee on 00:00 22nd-Oct-03 GMT #753-24805 You got home quick Cliff. Now I've seen a team have 75-80% of a match and lose before - but to see a division 1 game with just 20 (maybe that's being generous) away fans was quite sad. I bet there were more people for them on the pitch or in the dugout than in the crowd. Odd thing is after a very poor week there is only 2 points in it I think. AlexD on 00:00 22nd-Oct-03 GMT #b97-24806 Did you get them first time around :) Yeah very disappointing, extra man as well. Poor show. Lee on 00:02 22nd-Oct-03 GMT #753-24807 I just need a 5 minute motorway delay each morning and evening and I get a full play of the album both on the way and the way back to work. My timekeeping is awful these days as I sit and listen to the end of the album. AlexD on 00:04 22nd-Oct-03 GMT #b97-24808 Sorry were you talking about the Baggies? Poor show there too.
