I think when the complete history of the World gets writen at some point in the future, when human beings have reached the point of total enlightenment, it will be realised that only the first 17 minutes of any game of football had true meaning and worth. It is thus that West Ham will be remembered as a team that were truly kings of the game and not as virtually the only team in the history of football who can throw away a three goal lead! I guess they are so confident of promotion this year that they thought rather than go for the points they would give fans something 'entertaining' that they would remember forever.

I agree, there is far too much football discussed on here. Let's go back to gardening and make-up and shopping and shoes. I think we should not discuss football for, oh, like at least a week, starting from now. Thank goodness there's the Garage again in December.

Us girls don't just like discussing shopping you know. Anyone for discussing the decline of manufacturing industry, the history of Europe since 1815 or how fab REM are??!!!

Yes Jo, Super Portsmouth, Pride of the South (Southampton is actually in the South-West). Undertones also seen for the first time in that fair city on 13 May 1980 - at the long lamented Locarno Ballroom.

Stote007 - I WAS going to say I hate you.... You were taking the wee wee after that 4th goal though. Ooops, sorry! No more football (LUFC don't count as football though, do we?)

Just acquired a Feargal tour programme from 1986. He must have still had a soft spot for the band cos' in the tour notes it mentions both Bitter sweet and The Positive Touch. A quote from Suggs in the programme 'It was funny but hearing The Assembly single made me realise how good the Undertones were as a group. I never remember thinking of Feargal's voice overpowering any of The Undertones' records in the way it did on 'It Never Happened to me' which goes to show that they played and wrote songs as exceptionally as Feargal can sing. They left a legacy of great music'. Now Madness are playing Newcastle next month. The tickets are ridiculously priced. Not too late to include the Undertones as the headline act with Suggs and co playing second fiddle.

Thought you might have enjoyed yesterday Cliff. Still cactus at least you were very happy for 17 minutes, I was happy for 68 minutes... See you both at Brighton.
