I think the Damned are playing Newcastle tonight. Don't plan on going. The Buzzcocks are here in a couple of weeks and Madness are here on Saturday. It's as if the 1980's never went away!

Saw the Damned a bit back in Leeds. Well worth going if you're up for nostalgia. Dave Vanian looks frighteningly well!

What other old songs would you choose to be played at future gigs? I'd go for 'whizz kids','hypnotised' and 'luxury'.

The Damned are good fun live, I saw them a few years back, but Geoerge your new year resolution should be to see a band that werent going in 1980 - punk tributes dont count either:)I would love to see Hypnotised in the set, its the song I usually play 1st if I havent played any Undertones in a while. (always skip Whizz Kids though - and Jump Boys). Whats a haircut Alex?

funny enough I've never been keen on 'jump boys',the only track on the 1st album I skip over.Seems to be a great favourite at gigs though, always gets called for.

I never liked Jump Boys much to listen to (different at gigs) until I saw it on the Teenage Kicks film. The shots to go with the track are just classic! Caroline O'Neill in early girlfriend going to gigs mode is there, as is a dead ringer for a pissed up Marty Feldman. That bit in the film made me laugh even more than some of the serious bits that I found funny..better not say which bits!

Billys Third would be a good addition to the set list as would Wrong Way. And Tearproof needs reinstating! IMO they could drop Lets Talk about Girls (though I do like the recorded version) and Family Entertainment is getting a bit boring at the start. Top 20 is the best 'new addition'. And hopefully this time I'll not be in the loo and miss Casbah Rock!

Re The Damned. My brother said he saw them last night and they were 'Shite!' However, I have just introduced him to the Undertones at the age of 39....

Cant make Sheffield Jacki, just too far to go too near Xmas. I remember taking the order for a round of drinks really clearly, it was a great moment because how often do you get to say 'sorry, I cant get these drinks i'm going to watch The Undertones' - doesnt get better.I think we should have some ideas for some songs for the band to come on too, or how about a backdrop with something about the new LP (then the band wont have to get embarrsssed by mentioning it!). The instrumental 'Hard Luck'through the monitors would get me going before a gig.

Family Entertainment getting boring??!!! I still get goose pimples every time I hear it.

Played Billy's Third in encore at Brighton.I agree with you Arthur, Lets Talk is a great song to finish with.

Saw Therapy? a few weeks ago where they started with their very best song; wonder what would happen if the Undertones started their set with Teenage Kicks? Noticed that Church of Noise is even harder to dance to than It's going to Happen. Seeing Buzzcocks tomorrow night. The new TOTP really is very poor, although it seems to have sorted out the main problem with the show in that there are less songs on it now. Roll on The Garage.

Dont be ashamed for the Kursaal Flyers Wilke, they are a decent popband who later transformed in the Records who made a good LP and who were supported one day by Cliff's brother, if I am right

Did anyone watch the Clash documentary that was on TV last week. I was hoping they would show the Undertones on tour with the Clash, but no such luck. Time is Tight was played on TV tonight. I would like to see the band come on to that or Hard Luck before Paul launches into a song.

They were indeed Julius, my brothers band supported the Records at the Rock Garden around 1980.Kursaal flyers are from Southend and The Records did quite well in the USA, or so my bruv told me.

BTW Wilke, half the population of Southend look like theyve been in a 50's B movie.
