On a personal note not the greatest night for me.I've had a pinched nerve in my toe for about 20 years, to minor to operate on but it nags me about twice a year when the cold wet weather sets in.I got twinges on wednesday and new if it was still with me yesterday the mosh pit was a non non.Left home later than planned, got lost in North London,When I got out the car nearby and asked 'wheres the garage mate?' he pointed me in the right direction adding '5 minutes that way',yes you've guessed it, a petrol garage.I eventually arrived during 'thrill me',so apparently missed 'JJ'.What a bummer.

'knew' even.

a 'no no' even,D'OH!!

The venue was disappointingly not as full as last time, just a bit more than half I'd say.Still, standing towards the back you do get a different perspective on things. It must have been psycological coz of Pauls humdinger shirt, but all the 'hypnotised' songs sounded brilliant.'tearproof' absolutely spot on,'Norman' wonderful and 'wednesday week' as good a version you could hear.Great gig yet again, the mosh pit was very active atleast after the first few songs.'TK' was dedicated to Henry and Temi, and 'julie Ocean' was re-introduced along with 'youre welcome',but still no 'WSC'.I think 'gotta getta' was also dropped, unless it was before I arrived.

The venue is close the Arsenals ground and as I got back to my car Arsene Wenger walked past.I wondered if he'd been at the gig,'Arsene, what did you think of The Undertones'? I asked 'I didn't see it' came the reply.I should have guessed.

Preparing for the gig already (its 2.30!) Horrible journey down in rain, fog and black dark. Nice welcoming weather for the boys! Cant wait to see them. So what happened last night?

JoP on 14:46 20th-Dec-03 GMT #db1-25622
Most importantly Jackie, have you found your ticket?? I'm not excited. Not at all....

Great night last night. Certainly less full or over hot than last time but still a very good crowd. Able to get much nearer the front in my usual place just to the side of the mosh pit. Obviously they read this site as they decided to start with a change in JJ and, if I remember rightly Gotta Getta also appeared before Thrill Me. Still Family Entertainment was included much later - as essential as TK as GOY and runaround. Back to back Wednesday Week and Julie Ocean were a real treat, proving yet again Paul's great voice. I think they should keep the added JO, Welcome and Tearproof - they really add to it. No Top Twenty and one encore - 5 or 6 songs long. Rounded off with the other side of JJ, Mars Bars of course.

Sorry had to rush off at the end, just got the last train from Paddington... See you again next year Cliff, Henry, Temi, Cactus. For those of you going tonight - enjoy...The pre Christmas Undertones gig has made the last few Christmases start perfectly - may they continue for many more years. Thank you Paul, John, Damian, Billy, Michael. Happy Christmas and a great new year to you all.

Can't think of anything much to add to what's already been said about last night at the Garage. Top show. Get Over You seemed to get an especially warm welcome. One or two members of the band appeared to spend a worryingly large amount of time flirting with one particular blonde at the front. Both drum sticks Billy?! Song-wise, does anyone know if there was ever a Billy’s First or Second that we need to hear sometime? The fact that a few of the Capital's 7,000,000 didn't see fit to make their way along just goes to prove that the Undertones are still at the cutting edge of contemporary music. (Whatever that means.) Henry ‘Friend of the Stars’: Don't forget to moisturise! Have a good Christmas break people. Thanks to the Undertones for the early pressy and looking forward to having to buy my tickets to see that band headlining at (insert your least favourite large venue or festival here) in 2004.
