Christ! Rick and Arthur you two need to get out more. why not just get on with it and enjoy instead of all this endless debating and wringing of hands.

angel on 00:50 10th-Jan-04 GMT #b7d-25987
hey george i know you dont know me but i think jackie is right. get a job with a boss who will respect you. do something you enjoy well thats my advice

Rick on 09:30 9th-Jan-04 GMT #2a9-25992
I have a poster of the Undertones from Smash Hits circa 78/79 with John O'neill wearing .. guess what? .. a Buzzcocks T-Shirt. I thought the Ramones and '60's garage bands on Nuggets were just as big an influence though.

george on 10:38 9th-Jan-04 GMT #100-25993
Maybe orgasm addict inspired Teenage Kicks? If the band were to support Busted in the North East before Busted call it a day, then my children would definitely be willing to go along. Couldn't afford to buy sweets as a child!

Rick on 11:49 9th-Jan-04 GMT #2a9-25994
AlexD - Goldblum is good in the David Cronenberg '80's version of 'The Fly' and very good in last years 'Igby Goes Down'. Won't mention 'Jurassic Park I and II' though he has a good 'chaos theory' speech in I.

Cliff on 12:05 9th-Jan-04 GMT #934-25995
Rick, I know the picture you mean and I'm sure the Undertones would like the Buzzcocks stuff. However your original point gave the impression people would be walking away from Brum saying 'its so obvious the Undertones copied the Buzzcocks'.Thats the bit I can't see.Once again I'd say the Buzzcocks made a couple of brilliant songs('promises' 'fallen in love')and some other good ones, but its all about strength in depth and they dont come close to the Undertones 35-40 classics.

Cliff on 12:07 9th-Jan-04 GMT #934-25996
Cactus, were you on the liquid last night? Lampard plays for Chelsea.

CMoS on 12:35 9th-Jan-04 GMT [shotbybothsides.com/buz_tu2k.htm] #296-25997
Buzzcocks last great release

Lee on 00:50 10th-Jan-04 GMT #64a-25998
Just caught up after a few weeks away. Nice Christmas break but can safely say it seems a long time ago. A few things I recall after trawling through the postings (If I gte names wrong forgive me) - Wilke did you get the Starjets cd? I've got it so let me know if you didn't.

JoP on 12:50 9th-Jan-04 GMT #568-25999
Bloody hell - Damian O'Neill on BBC Breakfast this morning!! He looked all of 12 years old, and it was well worth being late for work for!! And you've GOT to milk in Bovril otherwise you can't stir it cos it sticks.

Lee on 00:50 10th-Jan-04 GMT #64a-26000
CMoS - can't seem to post under my name with my password. I'm sure I haven't forgotten it - have I missed something I should have done?

JoP on 12:54 9th-Jan-04 GMT #568-26001
And it was Cresta, not Fresca cos the bear was called Cresta Bear.

Lee on 00:50 10th-Jan-04 GMT #64a-26002
I don't think they are on the nostalgia circuit. As long as they do continue to function as a band and add to the new album with further new songs that's fine. I am worried about the Damned / Buzzcocks gig. The first gig in my hometown for how many years and I'm less than enthusiastic - I can see them being 3rd on the bill and in fact can see the Damned who as far as I know out of the 3 bands are the only ones without any new stuff, headlining. I hated the Damned - never saw anything in them at all. At this stage I think I'm 50/50 whether to bother going and may just save the time and money and try to get to another gig a bit further afield.

Lee on 00:50 10th-Jan-04 GMT #64a-26003
On a brighter note Julius had a message from Gerry suggesting the Moondogs were thinking of recording another album and would be gigging further in 2004.

Lee on 00:50 10th-Jan-04 GMT #64a-26004
Something odd is going on here. When I posted the first item Cliff was showing as 2991 postings. He hasn't posted since then and now is at 3005. What's going on? Is it just me?

donald on 13:28 9th-Jan-04 GMT #fd1-26005
5 minute interview with feargal on BBC 1 news at 8.40 this morning. preceeded with a clip of YGMN , JJ and 2 solo songs. Very confident speaker about his new job which seems like a bit of poisoned chalice so he;ll need some luck.It was said he had been asked to rejoin the Undertones and he said at his time in life it doesnt seem the right thing do for now. Great plug for the band, at least some more people will be aware that they are still around. JoP - did you only notice Damian:)

donald on 13:42 9th-Jan-04 GMT #fd1-26006
also just got a text to say that Busted are supposed to be palying a cover of TK at an awards ceromony - possibly the Brits? My mate thought I would be furious but I think its a great way to reach a new audience and the more publicity the band get the better.

Cliff on 13:50 9th-Jan-04 GMT #5d7-26007
Agreed Donald, was Damian interviewed or was it an old clip? I mentioned in the chatroom last night that I was watching a video of the mean fiddler gig (still brings a lump to the throat that one)and had the sound quite loud, Oliver suddenly appeared and started dancing with one hand above his head, it was mint(thats what they're all saying down here now,and after yesterdays experiences I must start getting groovier..man).

Rick on 16:33 9th-Jan-04 GMT #2a9-26008
The DVD gets a five star review in this months Uncut magazine. When is the exact release date ? - I seem to recall 22/23 Jan.

JoP on 17:42 9th-Jan-04 GMT #d9a-26009
donald - yes. Well, it WAS early.... And some b*****d a t work has put 'In bed with Damian' as my reason for being late this morning.

andy a @ on 00:50 10th-Jan-04 GMT #2d8-26010
seeing how this works

Jackie on 19:38 9th-Jan-04 GMT #b05-26012
Jeff Goldblummmmmmmmmm :)

Jackie on 19:41 9th-Jan-04 GMT #b05-26013
He made my favourite quote from the movies too- 'God help us if we're in the hands of engineers'. My husband luckily thinks this is funny!

Jim C on 00:50 10th-Jan-04 GMT #69c-26014
Saw this item on Feargal and the New Live Music Forum. www.soundgenerator.com/news/

Liam on 21:33 9th-Jan-04 GMT #510-26015
Just posted the names of the two winners of the recent competition on the new section of the official site. Thansk to everyone who took part and sorry Alex you need to slip more than two quid in the brown envelop if you are to be in with a chance.

George on 22:04 9th-Jan-04 GMT #5de-26016
I hope Busted do Teenage Kicks on TV. My kids will never hear the last of it. Better still if I manage to tape it. They will be old and grey by the time I stop reminding them. I see the postings clock is back on UK time now!

JoP on 22:08 9th-Jan-04 GMT #d9a-26017
I think Busted are gorgeous. In a kind of jailbait way. Bit like Damian this morning. Sorry, too much cider there....

JoP on 22:13 9th-Jan-04 GMT #d9a-26018
Was that really me just then?!

Jackie on 22:14 9th-Jan-04 GMT [www.tintin.be] #b05-26019
Happy birthday Tintin 75 today. I type this in my 'shrine' to Tintin- I've probably never mentioned this but I worship Tintin. Even more than Miffy. Sorry, bit too much gin there!

Cliff on 23:29 9th-Jan-04 GMT #934-26020
Anyone know what became of The Motels and Martha Davies?

Cactus on 00:20 10th-Jan-04 GMT #ee7-26021
Cliff, technically you're right, but as he's West Ham through and through, I imagine he donates a few % of his wages to West Ham every month. (This is going nowhere, so I think I'll stop now please.)

Cactus on 00:24 10th-Jan-04 GMT #ee7-26022
Jackie: So you've won two weeks away in the sun on a romantic, tropical island with either Jeff Goldblum, Tintin or Damian. Who's it gonna be? Or perhaps you'll take the alternative prize of a free shopping spree in London's West End?

CMoS on 01:23 10th-Jan-04 GMT #ad1-26023
Lee remember your password begins with a capital letter. The post tallies depend on how you are viewing the page if you click 7th Jan then Cliffy does in fact have 2991 postings as the totals like the links are dependent on the day you are lookign at

CMoS on 01:25 10th-Jan-04 GMT #ad1-26024
Come on Vinny how about a plug for the DVD its just over 2 weeks !

Vinny on 02:24 10th-Jan-04 GMT #69c-26026
OK Colin: You got me; Sanctuary have been dealing with most of the PR including arranging for me to talk on several radio stations in London next week, they'll need a translator(!!)but UNCUT gave it 5 stars this month and I was delighted, not the biggest of reviews but hey it's 5 stars!! I'm trying to finish this totally different film at present so my mind has been on that, sorry!!

Vinny on 02:27 10th-Jan-04 GMT #69c-26027
