I can confirm that there definately was a gig at the Rainbow. Hammersmith Odean I recall was spoilt by Bouncers forcing people to sit down and not dance in the isles. By far the best gigs I ever went to were the Hammersmith Palais ones! And I've been to a few! One that I recall was with the Dolly Mixtures who got one encore, The Moondogs who I think got 3 encores and of course the Tones who I think did 5 encores (could have been more)because nobody wanted to go home! Can't remember going to the Finchley gig though.

It was a great game Arthur, but a ridiculous scoreline.Honestly there was only one team in it, Albion should have won easily, 5 or 6-1 would have been a fair reflection but unfortunately we have co co the clown in goal.Winning isn't everything at this stage of the season but we can't keep throwing points away, apparently the game at Brum should have been a 3-3 draw.

Yeah those Dolly Mixtures were cute.The Finchley gig was just a one off if I remember rightly, it wasn't part of a tour or anything.There was a t-shirt made especially fot it, it was navy blue with white writing.How I remember such things I've no idea!

I have a couple of Cook da' books singles. So what tour did Orange Juice support the band? I think I saw them a few times on that tour. I know they were the support band for the Nottingham Rock City gig, when I got separated from the band, couldn't find any accommodation at 2am in the morning and asked the police if I could stay in one of their cells for the night.

Orange Juice were definately at the Hammersmith Palais, they got a bit of abuse.

I also got seperated from the band a couple of years ago, Its surprizing how fast middle aged men can run when they want to ;-)

Orange Juice were on the See No More tour in December 1980. Saw them at the Southampton Guildhall. That was when the band played Start! and Trouble in the sound check.

Definitely played the Rainbow Oct 79 and Tenpole was support- I too remember the difficulty of leaping about while standing in the stalls. (John said that TPE later played in the pub opposite- for those who remember it.) Don't recall who the support was at the Cambridge gig a few weeks before but when I mentioned it to John he thought it might have been The Dolly Mixture.

That's right, Cliff. At that stage, OJ couldn't even play their own songs.
