Musings
Some of you on that side of the ocean might have heard of The View. Big article on them--yet another next big thing to try to break America--in New York Times last weekend. Article includes this sentence: 'Between the band's bright melodies and Mr. Falconer's gloriously rolled r's, many . . . Joe on 14:38 17th-Jan-07 GMT #297-43401 . . . listeners have detected hints of another cult band: The Undertones, from Northern Ireland, who were responsible (among other things) for the sublime 1978 hit Teenage Kicks.' NY Times, 6 Jan. Arthur on 09:36 17th-Jan-07 GMT #9f8-43402 Jackie, is Most HAunted the show with the scouse psychic. Every time it seems to be going a bit slow he gets possessed and every time he's possessed the spirit communicates in a thick scouse accent. Quality. Arthur on 09:38 17th-Jan-07 GMT #9f8-43404 I bought the Beatles' remix album, Love. I know a lot of people will be sceptical but it really is great. AlexD on 15:41 17th-Jan-07 GMT #4b9-43410 I saw the show in Las Vegas Arthur, absolutely brilliant. One of the highlights of the trip. Roger on 17:47 17th-Jan-07 GMT #2e2-43413 ...Julius - didn't know Luke did Moondogs' gigs. It's a pity RED FISH didn't get more exposure since it's a killer power pop album! ...SLF Ulster Hall gig 09.03.07 is now sold out... My daugthers will stay with Luke & Karen this weekend so i'll have SLF Dublin gig tickets too! Roger on 17:58 17th-Jan-07 GMT [www.myspace.com/punkmodpoparchives] #2e2-43414 ..Wayne, Roger are you making Manchester gig, 17th March? Still can't do DVD copies, sorry, but can post you Undertones VHS (Rennes, BZH, 2005) hawk on 20:34 17th-Jan-07 GMT #5fa-43415 Roger - Hoping to make Bristol on 16/3 and Manchester on 17/3. Julius on 21:00 17th-Jan-07 GMT #b57-43416 I think Luke did a coupe of gigs with them. I reaaly want to see the Moondogs live. Interesting note on the View, muxt check them out. The Beatles Love album got very mixed reactions from brilliant till worst album of the year, all quotes from die-hard beatle fans Julius on 21:01 17th-Jan-07 GMT #b57-43417 At last some talk on music here, Now listening to the album by The Good, the Bad and the Queen. Damon albarn and Paul Simonon, sounds relaxing JoP on 22:20 17th-Jan-07 GMT #6c8-43419 The View sound NOTHING like the Undertones! They're bloody good though now they've stopped trying to be Babyshambles. Worth seeing live if only to watch the very small singer trying to juggle his big Gretsch guitar and even bigger hair! My Mum got the Love CD for Christmas - I think it's brill. Still undecided about the Good, The Bad, etc. Sounds a bit like they're all trying to sound justlike their own band all at the same time. Might be a grower though. JoP on 22:21 17th-Jan-07 GMT #6c8-43420 The View sound NOTHING like the Undertones! They're bloody good though now they've stopped trying to be Babyshambles. JoP on 22:22 17th-Jan-07 GMT #6c8-43421 I only said all that once. Honest! jackie on 23:22 17th-Jan-07 GMT #578-43422 I bought Love CD for my mother in law. It is well documented on here that I am a Stones girl (!), so it pains me to say that I want a listen. And I agree Alex. I saw 'O' in Vegas on our last night and it was brilliant! hawk on 00:03 18th-Jan-07 GMT [www.youtube.com/watch] #d3b-43423 Here's a good one from 1980.
