Especially on modern buses the nuts can work loose as they tighten in the same direction as the rotation of the wheel. Those yellow arrows on wheel nuts are designed to indicate when there is a loosening nut. And the driver should check the wheels every day. Loose nuts are a real pain and can result in a very uncomfortable ride. I check mine regularly throughout the day, just to be sure.
