Cactus write :-
Sorry the quality is crap - but they were taken on an old Kodak Instamatic 25 which was the only camera I had at the time! With the exception of the picture will all the people in it - all of them were taken during "Julie Ocean". Despite this - most of the pictures I took came out blurred because it was really hard to stand still. (Can you pogo to "Julie Ocean"? Apparently so-) I have some others but they are even worse so I didn't bother scanning those in. Actually the appearance of the people in some of them is more interesting than that of the band (punks and hippies - it'll make sense if you look at them). I've resisted the urge to put witty captions with them - it was a sad occasion after all.
I must have been mad because I hitched all the way from London to Stranraer - got the ferry to Larne - hitched down through Belfast and Dublin to Punchestown - slept in the open in a field - got woken up in the middle of the night by a group of very drunk Irish guys (all there to see the Undertones of course) dragging me along by my arms - (I thought some mad farmer had got me) - went to the gig - and then left straight after to hitch back the same way - without even bothering to wait for Dire Straits (headliners) to come on stage. (One of my Top Ten most hated bands - ever.)
The gig itself was kind of strange in a way - because the band were on for less than an hour and they basically played stuff from the last album (there was no 'greatest hits' play list) - one encore - Billy threw the drumsticks into the crowd and then it was over. I don't know what I expected but it was all very low key - but maybe that's very them! I think the last song was Cher O'Bowlies but I could be wrong.
I have a t-shirt from the event somewhere which I might scan sometime if I can locate it. It's about a million sizes too small for me now (it really has shrunk in the wash - honest it has)! I meant to take it to the Astoria to throw up on stage but in my excitement I forgot to get it before I left!
