[Termon Hall The Undertones]

The Undertones, one of the great rock 'n' roll bands of all time, in the atmospheric surroundings of Termon Hall, is almost too good to be true. Derry's favourite sons created a unique punk influenced power pop sound in the late 70's that spanned four albums and numerous classic singles. Their first single Teenage Kicks is one of best pop songs ever recorded. The band broke up in 1983 and after several rumours reformed for a number of selective and highly acclaimed gigs last year with Paul Mc Loone replacing Fergal Sharkey on vocals. By all accounts the new line up is as good as ever and the Termon Hall gig promises to be serious good fun. With support from up and coming Buncrana quintet, Twenty Inch Cat.

Was at the Undertones gig in the Termon Hall in Termon, Co Donegal last night (Sun 22nd July). What a venue!! Never thought I'd be served tea and sandwiches at an Undertones gig. To make it even worse there was no alcohol being served. The atmosphere was electric (literally) as per usual.

Damian had a few problems with the electrics on his guitar and then the audience were nearly electrocuted by falling lighting which was knocked over by a few over enthusiastic pogo-ers!! Good night was had by all

What a fantastic weekend in Derry - Edited Highlights -.Jimmy Jimmy played twice, 3 encores, The first sighting of the "Termon Shroud" (copyright M.Bradley), Paul performing in front of the band, rather than hiding behind MB, travelling back on the train from Stansted with Damian and hatching a plan to get Robbie Williams to do a cover version of Wed Week so that they can live happily ever after on the Royalties--. meeting some fine and wonderful people for the best ever bus singalong-Ryanair losing my bag full of tatty clothes, so I can get brand new replacements.

Thanks Vinny for organising the transport-.I had no idea the gig was so far from Civilisation-by the way that phone call was because I left my gig memento on the Bus-the sold out sign written in turquoise marker pen with the bands autographs-I expect to see it appear on E-Bay in a few years time at great cost, following Robbie Williams 10 Week stay at No 1 with Wed Week.
