In true support of the town I love so well and the talent the seeps from it I went along to the Empire on Sun night to see the best rock band that ever came from this province - The Undertones. So can they still hold their own after all this time?
For those of us that didn't have them first time around they are back with a vengeance so that we young guns can have the full experience. And they are certainly not past it - the younger crowd seemed to be struggling to keep up with their elders as they pogoed on the dance floor - screaming the lyrics to their heroes on stage. The atmosphere is indescribable - the older ones reliving their youth - experiencing for a few hours the nights of their teenage years. With an endless amount of energy - ' they could put the youth of today to shame. The new bloods hail the men that opened the door to pop stardom from Northern Ireland - and realise that their elders were on to a good thing with this band. But the question everyone wanted to ask - What about Fergal (sic)? Judging from the crowds reaction to Paul Mc Clune (sic) it was more a case of Fergal who?
So forget about the day jobs boys - we need you back. John Peel knew these guys would last - so We are now putting our faith in them and are sure that this will not be a fallen return.
