Vinny Was There

Vinny writes - I'm just back from Dublin!! (BBC Music Live) Amazing night. The Undertones got the best reception easily. They were asked back on again at the end and did "You've Got My Number" and "Here Comes The Summer". The whole thing - apart from the end is on BBC N.I. on June 16.

Billy Doherty

"As you know we are playing in Dublin on Monday 29th at the Hotpress Hall of Fame as part of the BBC Music Live Week. I can't wait. It has been almost 20 years since we last played in Dublin. We are doing 2 songs - opening with a classic "Them" track called "I Can Only Give You Everything" (no doubt we be playing this at The Mean Fiddler and The London Fleadh) and finishing with "Teenage Kicks". Please come and say hello if you can make it to any of the shows."

BBC Music Live Programme" will be televised live on the BBC - May 29 - 8-10pm.Mike Edgar - the show's producer explains the project thus: "It's a celebration and commemoration of the past 30 years of Irish music.

"I Can Only Give You Everyting" was written by Scott/Coulter and originally recorded by 'Them' on the album 'Them Again'.

An extract from The Story of Them - "On July 5 1964 Van Morrison entered a London recording studio with his group Them and made his first recording as a leader. The ill-fated Them recorded for just under twenty-four months before business hassles and a dizzying spate of personnel changes caused the band to splinter."

Vinny reports - The Undertones got the best reception easily. They were asked back on again at the end and did "You've Got My Number" and "Here Comes The Summer".
