Translation by Julius :-

This is an interview from the Dutch magazine Muziek Expres - issue: july 1980! The header says: "Undertones - thanks to the music - we can marry and buy a house" The other header says:"There is no bread in Ireland" The article quotes Damian who says that "the band saved them from live-long unemployment - there is no bread in Ireland - no future" Also Damian says:"at home we are no heroes - because we do not want to be"

The remarkable thing about this interview though is that if you turn the page - there is an interview with SLF! In 1980 Teenage Kicks (the single) got its Dutch release and both the first and second album were heavily promoted. Also in 1980 SLF toured Holland and was very popular in the very lively punk-and squatscene in Holland - I remember that in every newspaper - every radiotimes - every musicmagazine in 1980 there were interviews with the Undertones(yes - the Undertones got a lot of promotion) and SLF at the same time and always being placed next to each other in the magazines. This always resulted in both bands being compared to each other by Dutch journalists on the lyrical side of their songs!!
